IIRC it's the left bumper. Or L1 on dualshock

I remapped to LT. If I move it back to LB it works.. but not at all on LT

That would be because it's depress the Left Thumbstick to mount, even though it says LT there is a Thumb Stick shape around the LT on screen.

No. Not "Mount". I'm talking about "Call Mount". The ability where Cal waves his hand in the air to summon a mount when one is not nearby

the same button you use to lift of slam, and or call partner to help
that button
press and hold it, you will whistle or pull hand in the air
just make sure you are near a mount too

The call partner button is LB by default but I remapped it to LT. This *is* supposed to be the same button that calls the mount, but, like I said, it doesn't work. (It does work for partner assist, but does not work for call mount.) If I map it back to LB it works again, but I'm not going to have it mapped to LB. I don't know what Lift and Slam are, but I assume that they are abilities that I will get later in the game.

so its right bumper on mine
but as I said

whatever the button you use to ask bode or merrin for help
is not to be missed

you start off using it and the game telling you how to use it with bode
its that button matey
you cant just press it
you have to hold it

and it has to be where a mount is..or can be
in some cases there are puzzles that wont let you call one

where are you at in the game that the mount cant be called?
might be a no mount place

if you are on stock planet...just near the mount and press and hold each button
see which works

or try to remember how you had BODE attack in the intro chapter
that is the same button as lift.. and slam, and call mount or partner

sadly its also the button for force push on mine so..

Hmmmmmm it's possible that I never did have Bode attack for me in act 1. I had a button which had him help me with obstacles, and that worked fine... but I guess that's different then having him attack.

But regardless.. calling mount does not work at all with the controller if the keys are reassigned. I know that I'm in a place that it could work because if I press Left CTRL on the keyboard it calls the mount just fine. I just can't be reaching for the keyboard in the middle of combat.

as the game tells you how to do it as a tutorial
target an enemy then press the help button for bode to kick or nade someone
you MUST do this 10 times per character, x2 bode and merrin for an achievement

fast trick
as I did mention

just sit near the stables and call a mount
be near one
press and hold one button at time on the controller
you should see a sub screen on bottom right
no matter what button you assigned this is in the GUI
bottom right of the screen shows
bode action left, confuse, lift, slam
the 3 skills come later but these are shown in the first rooftop mission
esp how to use bode
though dont ask why since you only use companions for about 10 min total
more if you want to farm the desert

then try setting the button back just to see if it works

These are some of the least helpful replies I've seen. They are completely ignoring or misunderstanding what the poster is saying. I feel for the original poster, I'm experiencing the same thing. This isn't a matter of not know which button to press, it's that when you map that button (the Focus button, BTW) it doesn't work when it's mapped to the left trigger for calling a mount.

In all other instances (companion assistance, confuse, etc.) the left trigger works as expected, but for calling the mount it simply doesn't recognize it.

I even went into the steam controller settings and mapped it so that when I pull the left trigger it sends the button press for Ctrl, because pressing Ctrl on the keyboard works, and it ignored that too!

This game on PC is just borked on the backend for controller signals and settings, as there are multiple instances like this for this game (e.g. the toggle force pull setting turning off after 3-4 uses).

So, to the original poster, Clever username, I hear you, I have the same issue, and I haven't found a solution either.

on PC steam api / input is screwed
it has messed up TONS of games
Okami being one main one recently

are you both understanding the game is bad as well as the controls from steam?

*2 are you on beta steam or standard client
*3 xbox 360 controller? steam?
*4 the game itself uses the same button for too many things, see okami threads for details
valve has said they updated steam, and this ruined many games controllers
