do not unninstall?
i previously uninstalled this game to save space and when i reinstalled it to play again my save file was completely erased? why is this? i had done a similar thing with fallout new vegas and had absolutely zero issues. is it not possible to retrieve it and also is this a common issue for other people?

Often times when uninstalling a game there's an option to remove all related files, or not remove them. I always recommend copying the save folder and relocating it BEFORE uninstalling any game though. I understand that may not help your current situation, but I would keep it in mind for future reference, as some uninstallers act like shredders.
