The game is honestly amazing in terms of the gameplay (especially after the 1.05 balance patch), but the main issue with the game is how they handled the monetization. DLC characters were fine because I was only going to play one or two characters so I didn't really mind not owning each character. But there is a big problem, you can't use the DLC characters in training, and you are unable to view the replays of a match against a DLC character (if you don't own the character). You legitimately have to PAY to learn the matchups against these characters, which is honestly disgusting. I don't really care about the tekken coins stuff because all you can do is buy cosmetics with them, so that doesn't really bother me, but it is really scummy to add "V-Bucks" to a $90 CDN game a few months after launch. The game is flawed with a really fun gameplay loop but ruined by terrible monetization choices.

Bait and switch, the game.

First of all, it's Tekken, so there's nothing to take seriously about this casino fighter as a "fighting game". But even dismissing that aspect of the most overrated game in the FGC, Bandai-Scamco has done their focus group marketing research on how best to pull the rug out from under their customers' feet. Legacy characters and costumes were intentionally left out of the base game in order to sell you them later. Harada claimed he was releasing a "full package game" which contained no store--at least for the first month. You see, after the positive reviews and initial hype wave had been ridden out, they added an in-game DLC shop that uses gacha-style currency in one of the scummiest moves ever.

Now we're 7 months in and we get ADS IN GAME THAT YOU CAN'T DISABLE. Even Capcom's greed had limits, but Namco sees no boundaries when it comes to ripping off the consumer and destroying their brand image. It turns out the Kazuya story ending that features his sneaker collection? It was shoehorned in so they could feed us Nike ads. Not only that, but the stage designed to look like NYC Times Square was created to give you Nike and Chipotle ads on the big screens.

Even further, the Chipotle collaboration bombards you with floating cosmetic coins with their logo, and people can wear Chiptole T-shirts to earn promotional points for eating out. AND YOU CANNOT TURN THESE ADS OFF.

And I haven't even touched on the easy-mode mechanics stacked on top of each other to mask the absolute spaghetti code this janky game is built upon. But that would be too long of a review to delve into.

Overall, this is the most cynical corporate product I've ever seen at $70+, and the FGC laps it all up. An absolute scam, and just another reason why Tekken sucks as a serious competitive game. "Full package game" my @$$.

I hate that I have to write this review, but clearly it's been unaddressed and not even talked about. For past months (some even longer) there has been an issue with a "lowlevelfatal error" and they gave obvious "oh check game files fixes" which doesn't do a thing for it. We're down to our update which the second DLC character is coming out and still no fix or even a sneeze of something being worked on. It's a character I was excited to have come back and play but can't do that...

But, I don't know I doubt this will help Bandai do anything but I can't in good fate just sit here on my ass for nothing to be done. if I had a choice I'd refund and maybe get it on console instead, at least it works there. And I know the main question most may have is.."Is it the PC?" and no, this is a pretty up there rig and many others with high spec PCS are experiencing this problem. The only guess I can have with it is proper compatibility tests were not made on a lot of the higher stuff or particular things.
