We are going to hook up Steam achievements. I'd like to see a design where the base game has achievements built in, and for the Steam version I can do a little bit of work to hook up those achievements to Steam. So the only barrier to having Steam achievements is basically the same as any other feature: we don't have enough programmers to work on new features (and we have an absolute ton of planned features and bug fixes we need).

Love the game. I'd still love to see Steam Achievements.
For me at least, I tend to be more excited to play a game and get the awards and that fills my pride and ego. Perhaps I'm just a bit selfish that way.
But +1 for Steam Achievements.

Steam achievements will come eventually. When achievements are added in general to the game then at the same time I will hook those up to also give Steam achievements. Achievements for Thrive are on our roadmap for before we consider microbe stage to be complete, but there are still a lot more other new features to add which is why achievements are still not done.
