Edit: I started the game using the classic layout since it seemed better than the standard in terms of what would come naturally to me. After a bit of reading I see there are a lot of complaints about this layout having issues online. I switched, redid all the trainings, and things aren't quite as bad. The game does have awful design in terms of new player progression (What do they expect new players to do other than jump into the story, and maybe do a bit of the basic training? The difficulty ramp is outrageous in the story. It needs to be smoothed or there need to be different difficulties implemented for different level players so everyone can experience the campaign.)

Impossible level AI 2-3 missions into the game that blocks/dodges/reflects everything and doesn't give you a second to think while you're still learning the controls. You get to watch some pretty great visuals while you have no control over your character while a master level AI juggles you the entire time. Real fun experience.

There's an option to lower difficulty but it disables the story branching, which is the main appeal of the story mode in this game. Really lame thing to deny access to.

Typical of Bandai developers, the options menus are missing basic features like the ability to rebind your controller the way you want (same huge complaint with the Monster Hunter series) and the two layouts they offer are hot garbage. There is limited rebinding of some buttons but they're constrained to groups (X skills can only be on triggers, Y skills can only be on A/B/X/Y, etc). And seriously, what game doesn't have a master volume option at this point? Shameful.

Sparking Zero is the best DBZ game (at least in the modern age). It lives up to the Legacy of the Budokai Tenkaichi games, bringing forth new characters and some old familliar faces like the man the myth the sayian Goku (Mid).

Graphics : 10/10
At launch, the character models weren't that nice, some would be considered half-baked, but since the patch that was like a month ago or so, they look better, tho the graphics of the game itself at launch were peak Dragon Ball, dare i say better than DBZ Kakarot's.

Gameplay : 10/10

It's budokai tenkaichi...what else to say lol, it's just a perfect and simple combat system, combos are way easier to pull off since you'd be mashing Light and tap the blast button once or twice. Sure there's many combo routes but fighting games do be like that. With 181 characters (192 if you include the Super Hero DLC) you got a lot of variety to play with. You can also customize them by giving them these extra abillity capsules, but no one really does that else it would be TOO OP. But yeah in the end, you have what the Budokai Tenkaichi games have always had, Sonic Sways, Perception Counters, Combo Strings, SPARK etc.

Story : 5/10
Now we all know...the story of DBZ games aren't always perfect, but this one just...is lacking so much. There are 8 campaigns : Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, Frieza, Goku Black and Jiren. Goku's campaign is of course, the largest one of them all, with the most WHAT-IF's as well. Speaking of What If's, some are great as hell, some are just...so bad. Some conditions of unlocking said What If are also cancerous, for example beating 3rd form Frieza as Piccolo under 15 seconds JUST for fighting the Final Form and just have the exact same outcome of Goku defeating Frieza. Jiren's campaign is the most underwhelming since it only has 1 What-If ending that it almost has the same exact route as the normal story. In order to at least make the story better (which i doubt will happen since it's Bandai), it would be making more campaigns, more What-If's and also just add more levels to the Characters, Vegeta was done dirty, no WHAT IF of him going Super Sayian against Frieza in Namek Saga, that was such a nice opportunity.

Replayabillty : 2/10

This is where the game fails at, it has the lowest ammount of Replayabillity known to mankind. The only type of replayabillity you have is online multiplayer, bonus battles/world library and...yeah that's kinda it lol. sure recently they also added this new mode where you have to beat a super boss or whatever, but that's not enough, we need more stuff.

Additional problems :

Ranked is toxic asf
Cheap and Easy strats to learn (example being that one E-sports match where both players used androids 19 and 20 and just kept flying around, mocking the game, tho i think that has been taken care of by now)
Some Characters are WAY TOO BUSTED that you won't even need to lift a finger to win against opponents
Some Bugs happen but that's no big issue

Overall : 8/10

This game is Very amazing on one side, but not really good on the other, the main problem is that the game is so highly focused on Online matches and less on the Offline stuff. The Budokai tenkaichi games were always offline oriented, they had a lot of content based on PvCPU stuff, SPARKING ZERO invested all that into online multiplayer which ruins what the Budokai Tenkaichi games were special for. I know i said it lives up to the Legacy of the Budokai Tenkaichi games, it does, but not entirely, it just lives up. Honestly i think this game will end up dead before the 3rd DLC, if not RIGHT NOW. The way to fix this, is to add as much offline content as possible, more what-if's, more stories, it's a nice way to make it more replayable. Other than that...yeah this game is amazing, may it somehow make a comeback and not die, since this game has probably become THE DEATH OF XENOVERSE 2. It isn't worth the price, so i recommend waiting for a sale.
