SO... as one of my introductory game in this genre (autobattler/roguelike) ...this is nice.

I tried the demo a while back... and it stayed on my mind. I had not paid enough attention, yet it left an impression. I found it again and again in my list... eventually, after finishing another game, i re-tried the demo and finished it... this time i paid attention. Then i got the full EA game... and done pretty much everything.

I'd say that, despite being a roguelike, the RNG doesn't feel too crippling, partly because you have the ability to get extras with in game currency mid-run to try and fix things.
Also, originally i fully expected a bunch of heroes to be near useless, because balance tend to be very hard in games like this.
To my surprise... ALL HEROES I'VE EVER TRIED (out of a big roster) ...are good. Disclaimer that they aren't all at the same power level, but if you are building a specific synergy, and such, they can all be used without thinking that your run is over. Even the one i thought looked good from his ability... and ended up always feeling bad and being the worst of my team when i used him...ended up saving a run by himself when i built him correctly and was given a chance to shine.

So yeah, i played games like vampire survivor before, and a few more like that, but i much prefer this style over that. if you are going to only move around, might as well remove movement and let you plan everything around the team, including positioning on the grid.

Well done devs. This is a game i kind of want to keep playing, and that is rare :) (maybe we'll get more challenge later!)

Now if only we could get a parody version with ants only characters :P crazy ants, shield head ants, and carpenters ants have to be the tank types :P

It's...Fine, I guess? The heroes end up feeling very samey and you're overwhelmed with 300 items and item recipes over the course of the run, demanding a lot of micromanagement that just gets tedious.

The fact that the heroes don't have unique passives is a bummer, since it makes them all just bland stat blocks with one active skill, in which case, more polished units would've made for a better tactical experience rather than just having a lot of units that just feel the same a lot of the time.

I also appreciate the effort to reinvent the status effects, but it fell flat for me.

It's not a bad game, per se, but it's not a good one either. I'd give it a neutral review, but alas.
