Congratulations on 1.5 million units sold!
Wow, 1.5 million! That is crazy!

I remember when 250k units sold got you on the "Playstation greatest hits" certification and was a wild success! And that was back when games were only $60!

1.5 million at $70 a unit is $105 million in revenue.
$105 million in revenue is enough to have hired a team of 100 with a salary of $100k per year salary (roughly the same as a medical doctor) for the entire 9 year development cycle and still have a $15 million profit!

Surely executives and management at EA must be thrilled and excited as I am sure that they set realistic sales expectations and kept the budget within a reasonable amount hiring only the best talent for only necessary jobs needed to produce the highest quality product.

After all, EA is known for their careful management of the companies they purchase.

1.5 million engaged players =/= 1.5 million units sold

1) the game is 60$, so now you have made the game for free using your logic.
2)they dont get the entire 60, i think steam cut is about 20%. so now you are in the red by about 18m
3) 1,5m is users, not unit sold. lets be charitable and say that 95% of those are sales. now you are in the red by about 22m.
not to mention marketing costs, and every other cost besides salaries, like location, equipments, and such. this was a massive flop.
I reaaaaally hope that this is sarcasm, but just 2 days ago another idiot, who used a line akin to "my dad works at nintendo" said that the game did just fine.
the cut is 30%, and it is also the same on all consoles, unless they have a special deal with sony and microsoft ea only earns “100%” when they sell it on their crappy app.

Still, massively impressive to sell what was considered the gaming equivalent of a Platinum album 6x over.
That is just insane!

Can you imagine how much of a failure of a publisher you are if you sold a 6x platinum album from a band with multiple consecutive side projects and main albums (that were all successful) in the music world?
Imaging if after going 6x platinum on the last album then dropping the band from your label and never letting them make an album again under that name! Everyone would ask "where did all that money go? And why?!"
or
"How is 6x platinum a failure?! How much did you spend to produce this?"

Even if we did a 1 to 1 sale translation of 1 million units = 1 platinum certification, this game went platinum + gold.
This isn't the case since a videogame is significantly more expensive than a music album thus playstation setting the industry "greatest hit" standard (equivalent of a platinum album) to 250k units.

Surely EA is very happy with the performance of Dragon Age: Veilgaurd and is securing everyone who worked on this game for a multi decade contract for the sequels since EA stock is going through the roof from the performance of a 6x platinum game.

Alright, I’ll bite.

EA values a handful of people at BioWare—mainly the developers working on their proprietary Frostbite engine. That tech gives them the flexibility to branch into different genres in the future, assuming they even get the chance.

Maybe a few directors, producers, and designers who did solid work (despite Veilguard’s overall direction) will keep their jobs. But let’s be real—most of the team will either be shifted to other projects or laid off, especially those responsible for the current state of Dragon Age. EA is going to downsize, and that’s just how it goes.

nope it is not 105 million sorry

electronic art is forced to pay 30% to steam, ps5 and xbox

so at best it is 80 million $

As long as they don't fire any of the precious managers and HR that hired everyone who made Dragon Age: Veilgaurd the 6x platinum selling single player RPG powerhouse it is!

Those are people who clearly know how to run a budget, set realistic goal expectations, please investors, and maintain positive relationships with their customers!

EA would never do that.

Rewarding the employees? That's a sin, to them.

I don't even expect EA to let me keep the games I purchased from them on the third party Origin service they shut down just cause they needed to push the EA app.

Why would I expect them to reward employees.

I admire their dedication to non discrimination by treating everyone horrible!

EA share price dropped about 20% on the investor call connected to this games numbers and people still huffing cope on this forum it seems.
The game was was a financial failure. It costed more to make than net income generated. If it was a success, they would not have restructured the studio and lay off workers

HOW COULD A COMPANY HAVE SUCH AN INSANE BUDGET THAT REVENUE NORTH OF $90 MILLION NOT RECOUP THEIR COSTS MULTIPLE TIMES OVER AFTER SELLING OVER A MILLION UNITS! THIS GAME IS THE EQUIVALENT SUCCESS OF A 6X PLATINUM ALBUM!

HOW MUCH DID EA AND BIOWARE SPEND ON THE GAME TO MAKE IT?
HOW MUCH DID THEY EXPECT IT TO SELL?!

OVER $250 MILLION?!
What did they spend all the money on?!
Man, if I were someone who had talent at Bioware and got sacked after creating a product that went the equivalent of an album going 6x platinum and told it was a failure I would be dropping every internal bit of info I had and warning investors about EA!
