Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Life is Strange: Double Exposure

This game will be an utter disaster without Chloe
Who is the company behind this? We all know and we know the true anti LGBT behaviour and conduct.
Without Chloe the game will flop. I imagine the story to be very dull too. Sad.
I will not be purchasing it.

Ok. Your opinion.

Lets wait and see, shall we?
I mean, I was personally surpised why they didn't have chole in there..like at all so I get where your standing from but it would be nice to see max surround herself from people that didn't involve her past 🤷‍♀️

Okay since people are treating this as a legit post (wasn't sure if I should or not): do I think the game will lose a sizable section of its playerbase if it comes out that Chloe isn't there or is broken up from Max? Yes. Especially as Amanda is an utterly lacking attempt at a more mainstream acceptable Chloe wannabe knockoff that feels more like them doing an "all LGBT+ is the same so you'll embrace this too" feel to it. But that's IF it turns out to be the case, right now I'm open to the idea of keeping an eye on the 2 week early people's commentary that will decide whether I put my money into it or not. If there's no Chloe and/or Pricefield, then I definitely won't be doing so.

Deck Nine are the devs behind this game (the ones that also made True Colors and BTS but i doubt any of the same people are still working there who made it)
I do agree that the game will get horrible reviews if they dont include Chloe in some sort of way. They decided to bring Max back so they have to bare the consequences if they dont deliver on the story. They will probably make some halfassed apology if the game flops when it releases. honestly nobody will care about the new characters likey they hope since they decided to make it a "the new Max Caulfield Adventure", wont be surprised if "the new" literally means a reboot of Maxˇs character.
Wait and see.

I don't even know if the game is going to be good or bad period with or without Chloe lol.

yeah ill see what people say about the first 2 chapters then make my decision, altough i hope they dont go that route where the first 2 chapters are somewhat good and then the quality lowers and the story feels rushed like true colors.
The leaks floating around online seem to point out Chloe's involvement in the game may depend on your choices from LiS 1.

These are the same leaks that accurately mentioned certain details of Double Exposure long before the game was revealed in June 2024.

My money's on a small, but extremely aggressively vocal minority getting mad at the game if there's no Chloe (despite there having been nothing to suggest she should be in the game except Max's presence). Any impact on sales is going to be dwarfed by the effect of the game's general quality.

Well I'm one of those people, and yeah I feel like it's either going to be selective bias, just with everyone gravitating towards who they want to listen too based on just if they like it or not, or it's not going to be representative enough.

"small, but extremely aggressively vocal minority"

Um no, not even remotely as at the very least 50% of the fanbase is in that camp and have already stated their interest being mixed set to shift on how Chloe & Pricefield are handled. On top of that from what I've seen 60% or more of the LGBT+ players specifically have no interest in Amanda aka a more mainstream acceptable Chloe knockoff, as we actually value LGBT+ pairs as pairs not a box to check off. Right now DeckNine is poised to either betray the original game and DontNod (thus setting itself up for being thrown out of canon) by potentially stabbing a section of people in the back that have not only MADE this game via their shouting about it and word of mouth back in the day, but also that looking at the history is the target demo for LiS. That being Chloe fans & Pricefielders and LGBT+. OP may be hyperbolic, but you're being incredibly ignoring of the reality of the fanbase (which I've personally interacted with)

The fact that you try to nonchalantly handwave Chloe's presence with Max just shows you don't have a clue about the characters or are severely detached from the story of the two. Not even going into completely not having a clue about the fanbase of the game that is invested because of PRICEFIELD. Like expecting a reduced roll for Chloe is one thing, but to flatout act as if there's nothing inherently there tying her to Max when Max literally broke time and in Bae chose to sacrifice the Bay for her; Bay ending it was still a choice which shows how much Chloe means to Max. To say that peole are off to tie them together is just ignoring their story, their characterization, and their relationship.

I'm not going to sit here and predict what sales numbers will be, but if its revealed that Chloe isn't around or that they broke up Pricefield for some dumb as hell reason, then you can bet there's at least half the fanbase that's already positioned to not put money into it and to instead eject it as canon. I can assure you that Amanda's knockoff lacking ass isn't pulling anyone in.

Um no, not even remotely[...][...][...]
You have to at least admit I nailed the "extremely aggressively vocal" part.

You mention percentages. What was the sample size? And what was the polling methodology?

Or are you taking the 50% that chose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay and assuming they're all in complete agreement with you? Because in that case you're misrepresenting my position significantly.

How many people are in "the fanbase"? Sales figures from Steam say that around a hundred thousand people bought True Colors on the platform in the first month of its release out of almost four hundred and thirty thousand Steam purchases to date (compared to 5.9 million to date for the first game, though that may include people "buying" the free first chapter, particularly considering that most players have played under 3 hours).

I mentioned this exact thing to them a while back, and they just didn't listen.

People that have been following a beloved series that they're invested in being very vocal when an outside group starts messing with the OG game, OG characters, and OG LGBT+ pairing that many back the game for? You don't say.

a) Nowhere did I say I did some official poll
b) The numbers are both the 50/50 split from the endings chosen % from the LiS game as well as the sentiment I've seen from various socials (Threads, YT, here, reddit, and even tumblr cause if going to get a vibe check only fitting to check all). The vibes are very much as I've stated, actually I'm giving it padding cause there's actually MORE negativity or apprehension towards this game and especially the notion of Chloe not being in it and/or Pricefield being broken apart.
c) if you think that my section of the fanbase isn't at least 50-60% (again being generous) then you're either completely outside of the fan spaces or blind.

You do realize that True Colors is one game of the entire franchise, the same as Steam is one platform (and honestly the push seemed more for ps4). The OG game's fanbase on the other hand is far bigger than that and most of those are there for Max and Chloe; and Pricefield mostly. Any social about LiS is filled with PRICEFIELD art, celebration, and talk; meanwhile for comparison I've seen maybe all of 1-2 people give a single care about Amanda or about DE without Chloe & Pricefield. Instead the ones I've seen are waiting for the 2 week early people to do write-ups and depending on how they handle them will choose whether to put their money into it.

"my section" that's some bias right there. But seriously though, how about, calm down, and wait? We don't know about anything.

I owned the first one for quite some time before i played it. It sat in my library for ages. It was like at least a year after release that i started it.

What got me going was i was given a mac mini. One of the early ones from the late 2000's. Ive been a windows person since the mid 90's and hated the MAC UI and the way it was all setup. A totally new OS. I did not know jack.

So i set up a windows partition on the mac and used that instead. I installed steam since this was going to be my computer to use while seeing my mom for xmas for a few weeks. Lucky for me LIS actually installed and was playable. So the first LIS was like one of the few games i could play in spain while at moms.

The first MAC mini's had a 256 MB graphics "allowance" from main memory which was only 4gig itself. So any game i took had to be simple. That LIS even ran was cools. SO i got really immersed into it as it is really a story.

It was fun.

BUt that is the trouble with first experiences. Most of the time this experience can never ever be done again. They cant replicate the game using some formula. They have tried with all their games using a formula but it will never compare to the first game.

I own most of them but only completed the captain story, LIS and LIS BTS with the weird changed voices. NOt even loading LIS 2 or any of the other ones yet.

I am playing the Tomb Raider 1,2,3 reboot. More fun.

I bought the others ones since i wanted to support the studio that came up with the IP. LIS was so cool and different to anything that i was playing at the time it blew my mind. It wasnt the game play that moved me but the story that was told.

I will eventually get around to the others like Tell me why and LIS 2. Just not now. I have too many games i should play instead of buying more that will sit in my library.
