Found the settings that might prevent crashes
Crashed to desktop even on a high-end system with RTX 4090, Intel 13900K, 128GB DDR5 RAM, 4K 144hertz display, 1600 Watt Corsair PSU, Win 11 pro - 2 crashes in 50 min.

After changing these settings no crashes in around 2 hours of gameplay
- DLSS, off, NVIDIA low reflex latency off
- Switched off all ray tracing settings
- HDR off
- Motion blur and film grain set to zero
All other settings in max

When it works it works flawlessly with no stuttering, 100-130 FPS
A lot of settings to sacrifice on this rig.
Except for the crashes, it is a great PC port

I think ray tracing is the cause of crashes which is why they disabled it even on the highest-end AMD GPU the 7900XTX.

I have sent the logs to Insomniac games
Hope they fix it with a patch and we can enjoy the game with all the eye candy and ray tracing

You are the second person with Windows 11 who had crashes.
Anyway, i have a 13600k, 4080, 32 GB DDR5 and Windows 10 and had zero crashes with Raytracing at max.
There is a bug where you need to apply SSAO instead of all other AO methods in order to avoid flickering on water; but aside from that the game works quite oké.
It can stutter here and there though, in sometimes unpredictable ways. But in general it runs quite well, although you need a good system for max settings.

Maybe the problem is with Windows 11, 22H2 with all the latest updates. I seem to have crashes to desktop only with Sony games - Last of Us Part 1 and Day's Gone but not with Spiderman games and God of War. All other games in my entire 1660 Steam library work fine.

I didn't go as low, dropped some RT from very high to high, disabled DLSS for good measure too. No more crashes, still not 100% sure what's causing crashes but same as you, my game ran without a single crash after I toned down some settings.
Also W11 here

RTX To max is what caused me to crash, reducing it to HIGH or MEDIUM seems to work.
PS, I have a similar system as you.

13900k, 4090, 64GB DDR5, but with 4k 60Hz IPS monitor.

Note, I'm on Windows 10.

Disabling Reflex prevented the crashing for me (and by extension - Frame Generation)

The latest version of WIN11, the latest nVIDIA driver and nVIDIA Reflex can be ruled out as the "general reason" for crashes or freezes.

I play since more then 5 hours, ZERO bugs, ZERO crashes, ZERO freezes, NOTHING.

works diabolic well on my side?!

Fully maxed out, fully raytraced, 4k with DLSS Quality, NO Framegeneration

The game seems to be working now without any crashes in over 90 min of gameplay even after increasing all ray tracing settings to medium. I installed a Windows 11 update KB5028254 today. Maybe it helped. Or maybe switching of HDR helped. Hard to know.

I have no problems. But you should try again DLSS ( maybe choose desired FPS ). Ray tracing is hungry for FPS yeah
