Getting all the achievements in this game is harder than I expected

Batman: Arkham City is an absolute masterpiece that takes everything great about its predecessor and makes it even better. If you’re a fan of Batman, this is a game you need to play.


The story in Arkham City picks up where Asylum left off and really dives deep into Batman’s psyche. You’re thrown into a vast, prison-like area of Gotham City where the worst criminals roam free. As Batman, you get pulled into a tense and personal conflict with the likes of the Joker, Hugo Strange, and more. It’s an intense, emotional ride, with a few twists that’ll keep you hooked from start to finish. The game’s atmosphere and the interactions between characters are top-notch, making you feel every bit the Dark Knight.


The gameplay is refined and thrilling. The combat is fluid, intuitive, and rewarding. You can easily string together combos, use gadgets mid-fight, and truly feel like a tactical powerhouse as you take down waves of enemies. What really stands out, though, is the stealth sections. You can stalk your enemies from the shadows, picking them off one by one with precision. The added challenge of predator rooms where you can experiment with different stealth takedowns makes for some of the most satisfying moments in the game. Plus, zipping around the city with the grappling hook is ridiculously fun — sometimes, I just swing around for no reason other than it feels awesome.


Gotham City looks stunning. The world feels alive, and the level of detail is insane. Whether you’re on the rooftops or navigating through dark alleys, everything looks sharp, with the dark and gritty vibe that perfectly matches the world of Batman. The character models, especially for Batman and the villains, are impressively designed. The visual style holds up well even years after release, and the overall atmosphere pulls you deeper into the game’s world.


The voice acting is a highlight, with Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy absolutely nailing their roles as the Joker and Batman, respectively. Their chemistry is undeniable, and it’s a huge part of what makes the game’s narrative so engaging. The soundtrack complements everything beautifully, with subtle and intense tracks that really enhance the experience. Whether you’re sneaking around or engaged in an epic boss battle, the music always seems to amplify the tension.


Arkham City is massive, and there’s so much to explore. Whether you’re solving riddles, tackling side missions, or just exploring the open world, there’s always something to do. It’s packed with hidden secrets, collectibles, and challenges, and it’s easy to lose hours just enjoying the world outside the main story. That said, some of the side content, like the Riddler trophies, can get a bit tedious after a while. While it’s fun to track them down at first, the sheer number of them can feel overwhelming, and it starts to feel like a grind. But if you’re a completionist, there’s definitely a lot to keep you busy. The variety of side content is impressive overall, keeping you engaged long after the main campaign ends.


If you’re looking for an unforgettable superhero experience, Batman: Arkham City delivers on every front. With its engaging story, dynamic gameplay, incredible atmosphere, and tons of content, it’s easily one of the best games of its generation. Whether you're a longtime Batman fan or just a lover of great games, this one is a must-play. It’s a brilliant evolution of the Arkham series and a game that’ll stick with you long after you’ve finished it. Highly recommended.

This is a step up from Arkham Asylum in almost every aspect.

Arkham City is so much fun to explore and traverse. The combat system has been refined and is now better than ever; it feels way more fluid.

The story wasn't so good, though. Too many villains with no clear focus, too much stuff going on that ends up being filler. The scope of Arkham Asylum's story was less broad, and it worked better overall.

The DLC is quite good, but it's clear it was cut content from the base game to be sold separately (scummy).

I'm not a big fan of collectibles, and there seems to be WAY more than before, but since the game is so much fun, I really don't mind this, and they're optional, so.

Anyway, good game.
