10/10 don't even think about it. the game and the music slapppppppppppppppppppppppppp

This game has come a very long way through early access. I was iffy on it at first but the devs have continued to put in a lot of work and get it into a state where I do recommend it now. there is a lot of variety in builds and characters (the game really opens up when you unlock the character specific skill trees) and there is a lot to grind if you enjoy metaprogression.

there are a couple caveats however for normal garlic-like enjoyers: you have to keep moving constantly to avoid aoe circles on the ground. if you are the type to set up your build, go afk and come back in 3 hours to see what happened you will be dead every time. if you enjoy a more active dodging and dashing playstyle you will have fun.

and the other big one is there are no evolutions. you can continually level up skills though so after 10-15 minutes anything can be a screen filling monster but the skill you pick at lvl 5 is going to be functionally the same at lvl 500 with giga aoe and damage.

eventually i hope they do a balance pass on the runes. more of them should be like the ones in the bottom right corner that do fun things and not just small % damage that can be outclasses by a single level up selection.

It's fine. Just in it's current state more frustrating than enjoyable.

I'd say it's great for the price except It's impossible to see what's happening on the screen. Friendly AOEs are blocking all enemy telegraphs. Get some 200% AOE on your skills with 200% cast time and your screen is just a blob of particle effects.

All builds are the same. Build max move speed, build max aoe, build max cast speed. Press D. Profit. Alternatively skip the move speed and just go full damage and stand there hoping not to get hit with a random meteor or a boss laser (press space occasionally to hope to avoid those).

The more curses you take (e.g. more difficulty) the more random ♥♥♥♥ (red telegraphs) you have on screen.

In something like Halls of Torment you can tell when you're not gonna finish the run way ahead of you dying (or even without losing any hp). Here not so much. The 4 x 100hp nukes are gonna come out of nowhere, or they gonna hit you because you stood still for too long (press D for profit).

More is not better. This game loads you with so many particle effects that you can't see a thing. It is so bad that the developers added a feature to turn them off... Except half of the fun of games like these is to see the effects of your attacks and how they improve over time.

The gameplay is a bit stale as well. Enemies put red circles on the ground that detonate similar to an MMORPG attack, but you won't be hit by them so long as you keep moving. Rarely, an attack will also track you, so you need to dodge out of the way of it. Enemies do not damage you on contact, and most enemies can't even hurt you unless you are standing still. Because of this, the defensive stats are mostly useless outside of a few specialized builds, since boss attacks will kill you in 1-2 hits regardless of your defensive stats.

The primary threat of these normal enemies is that if you clump them up too much, they can obscure red damage circles and you'll end up walking into them. In fact, that's typically how you will die - a red circle you couldn't see because of the absurd level of particle effects flying in all directions, even with your personal effects turned off.

It's not a terrible game, and I'll probably still play it a bit, but I genuinely think these developers have no idea how to make a fun game, and are just stumbling their way through the process.

This is hands down the best survivor game out there. Has unreal power fantasy similar to POE. Would reccomend, god tier steam deck game.

Eh. Its alright. No bold and new ideas but at least this one isn't 2D pixel art so there is that. Pick it up if you already like bullet heaven games with heavy meta progression, ignore it if you have other titles that are more geared towards something less generic and more specific.

This game is a blast! Fast-paced, addictive, and with a ton of replayability. The characters are cool, the upgrades are satisfying, and the enemies are tough. If you love roguelikes, you'll love this.
