Since it's really weird and cryptic, I decided a while back to remake it from scratch by making the gameplay a little more intelligible and flowing by putting an option that allowed the old version to be reactivated.

Then, in the weeks before the release, seeing that crashes generated by the old code from the old version of Genesis would pop up from time to time, I disabled it and made it inaccessible in order to prevent the game from crashing.

Now I've caught the bug that generated the crash -- I hope no more mysterious ones pop up! The code in the old version of Genesis is really old and rather fragile...

Go into the OPTIONS and turn on the second-to-last option “GENESIS VERSION” to “ORIGINAL and CRYPTIC”
Also:
- PARASITE FIGHTER: I inserted PAUSE!!! Press the “P” key to pause the game. It looks like a small thing but it's not :) basically I had to put my hands in all the items in the game!
But now it's done and it will also come in handy for future developments of the game.
- I also added new firing types and animations of the spaceship when it fires. If you want the cheat to change the firing type, press F5 during the game.

- BIODISSEY: Now, when you enter Biodissey you will find available all the resources you have collected in New Genesis.
Now, accessing Biodissey (which is the 4X section of Kring - yet another game within a game!) is not a simple matter: first you have to finish all of New Genesis, collecting as many resources as you can; then go to the Leaderboard (on the icon of which will be Biodissey), you will see all the resources you have collected, and click the Rotating Star; so you go to the Tartar screen, which will look different than usual. Load up your Kring army and set off. There you will arrive in the Biodissey, with all the resources (that you have previously collected in New Genesis) available!

Note: Biodissey is still LOTS of work-in-progress. As soon as I finish Parasite Fighter (in which I now have to implement the artificial intelligences of the various enemies and create a decent increasing difficulty progression) I'll get back into it and finish it. I can't wait to get back into healthy data game design!

And here is the alpha version of the new minigame (which you can play by clicking NOVELTY GAME in the main menu): PARASITE FIGHTER!
You can use mouse or keyboard (WASD or ARROWS and space/control/enter keys). Best with mouse.
Left key: shoot. There is no limit of shots, so go ahead and shoot tons of bullets.
Right key: boost temporary. If you want to go fast, click a lot!

For now there are:
- 10 waves, each with a different enemy. The artificial intelligence of the various enemies is still super-silent, but it already gives flavor to exterminate them!
- 3 game stages: NATURAL, MICRO, SUPERHOT, to which is added the PARASITE MOTHER final boss stage at the end of each level. There are 5 different Parasite Mother for now (in the end of 5 different levels).
- Endless levels of increasing difficulty. Linear progression, minimal difficulty balance.

Collect the various power-ups (temporary graphics) found for:
- SPEED
- SHIELD.
- SHOOTING TYPE.
- MANEUVERABILITY.

Just to let you know I'm working on a new minigame (not so mini) called PARASITE FIGHTER.
You'll find it soon in the KRING - IT'S HARD TO BE A GOD update!
The game is nearly completed, but wow I'm going to Gamescom so I'll publish the update after that, about end of august.

The game has sold less than 60 copies so far, so you might ask... but why do you keep working on it?
Because it's my fun! I already make video games as a professional. But making video games as a professional means thinking about the market, the money, the practical aspects. Which wouldn't allow me, an old game developer, to write code (I basically program empirically! My basics go back to the assembler 6510 of the Commodore 64!)
And instead I really enjoy both programming (non-nerds cannot understand how good it is) and doing graphics and game-design.
So here I am, continuing the KRING development!

KRING is finally on sale!

I started making it for pure fun exactly 6 years ago, from a gameplay idea of male and female cells moving through a game space, mating and procreating, and drawing on a virtual canvas their movements, thus photographing the genesis of the people themselves.

Then, again just for fun, I kept adding races, creatures, weapons, levels. And then subgames, other games, a story, animations--always driven by what I felt like doing when I felt like doing it.
Oh, and I drew it all by hand!

Because of this, KRING is an absolutely anomalous game. Many things you will have to try more than once before you understand how they work.
The instructions however are there, for those who will be willing to read them :)

At the time of launch, KRING has 546 wishlists, which is very few. So predictably, sales will be just as few (if, on the other hand, you who are reading this decide to buy the game... well, THANK YOU!).

But little matter!
(I will admit, however, that I will consume the F5 button to see the sales in real time).
Fun it was and fun it remains!

I'm already working on the next two mini-games that I'll put inside Kring after the release.
And I won't stop. Why?
Because making video games is the greatest thing in the world, and making Kring is for me the greatest way to make video games!
