If you have any running, try turning off any applications that interact with the desktop. That would include things like fraps, evga precision, etc. Doing that has solved some of the black screen issues with other games.

i am having the same problem. It almost seems as if the game never actually installed itself. I suspect the game will have to be deleted and re-downloaded. I have tried every video setting combination.

I am not running any other programs with it

I will try reinstalling it for a third time.

Has anyone found a solution for this problem? I installed directx 9.0 for windows 8 and still the same RTH.EXE stopped working.

I wrote to Steam and will hopefully get a reply tomorrow. But I am having the same problem with RTH.exe.

I also placed a ticket with support. thanks for menitioning you wrote them.

Please if you could let me know what steam says in respnse and the solution to the problem

maybe if we figure out what our computers (asus laptop amd) software (windows 8 64bit/STEAM BETA) have in common. It also maybe what we don't have installed on our computers. I can't run F1 2012 because of a laptop issue. I have updated directx older verisons for compatiblity and my video drivers are up to date. One other thing if you paste the error message into a text file the info changes from just numbers to actual file locations. It shows that files are missing when in fact they are not.

ive got the same problem: My solution -> go to C:\Users\User Name\Documents\My Games\Ride to Hell\RTHGame\Config\RTHEngine.ini look for entry named fullscreen and change it to "false" (without " ")
save it and the game should start. (change the resolution too, ingame options have no point for it.....resolution are the points ResX and ResY)

but be carefull! don´t try to activate fullscreen inside the game.i tried and the game crashed again.
my system: win7 x64, amd radeon hd 6990

look, the game is broken beyond repair, just tell yourself the the money you spent was lit on fire, by santa. its better this way.
