F1® 23, at its core, feels like a game that struggles to find its own identity. Sure, it brings some solid features to the table, like the improved handling mechanics and a more refined feel on the track, especially for controller users. The addition of the "Braking Point 2" story mode is a continuation of the cinematic, albeit often cringeworthy, attempt to add narrative flair to the F1 experience. But honestly, while this could have been a strong selling point, it ends up feeling shallow and disjointed, with unrealistic character dialogue that doesn’t match the gameplay outcomes.

The biggest issue here is the F1 World mode. It’s as if the developers took a page from the “live service” handbook, throwing in a loot box-style system and a "Podium Pass" that's reminiscent of Fortnite’s battle pass. It seems unnecessary in a serious racing sim. Add to that, it's locked behind an online system, meaning if the servers are down, your progression is halted. It feels more like a cash grab than anything else, which leaves a sour taste for many players​.

Speaking of cash grabs, the inclusion of Denuvo anti-tamper DRM is a massive red flag for PC players. Denuvo is known to negatively impact game performance, and its addition is a slap in the face for paying customers. It's not something you'd expect in a game like F1, which prides itself on speed and precision. The DRM often brings more problems than it's worth, with many players reporting stuttering and performance drops, which in a fast-paced racing game is incredibly frustrating.

Multiplayer remains an absolute mess, yet again, which is baffling considering how long this has been an issue with the series. Codemasters just doesn’t seem to prioritize it. Bugs, connection issues, and poor balancing plague the online experience. You would think after so many iterations, they’d get it right, but no. It’s the same neglected feature that drags down what could otherwise be a decent racing sim​.

In the end, while F1® 23 isn’t an awful game, it’s weighed down by unnecessary monetization, intrusive DRM, and longstanding issues with multiplayer. It feels like the series is more concerned with squeezing out extra revenue than delivering a truly polished racing experience. If you’re a die-hard F1 fan, you might still find some fun in the single-player modes, but for everyone else, it’s hard to recommend.

I personally am usually not a fan of F1 racining, as i tried it on Assetto Corsa but man this is another thing. I am in love with this game. Physics are awesome, graphics are beautiful
