The game has potential and was fun for a while, but it got abandoned by its devolpment team and hasn't been updated in a year.

So this is a middling review.

I am not a veteran of strategy games, but I do enjoy a ton of them. I understand where the developers were coming from, trying to create a slow pace of attrition on the battlefield and trying to figure out how to utilize your research to the best of your ability.

What I find disappointing is maps. I was playing a map with the same layout as in the north which gets very old and frustrating very quickly. I only played maybe a good three hours, but I already feel the slog of playing this game. Trying to defend and attack gets very repetitive. Taking 3 turns or 3 attacks just to take a province gets very annoying. I want to say assaulting is terrible but I think it's because I haven't progressed to the point where I have the right equipment for assaulting.

It's a good game and it needs more work and love. I just wish there was more to it. I see there were mods but it looks like it didn't get enough love in that department either. I do think this could be a truly great game. It feels very visceral.
