Maybe your husband would've understood if he had the context of the first part of the playthrough that led up to the epiphany. I've avoided showing my partner much about this game because I want to see her play it for herself! (And thanks to the Steam Family feature she doesn't have to buy her own copy )
The piping under the bridge, really? That was very perceptive of you! I walked past that several times without noticing. I found it only when I started looking in the area consciously.
Unfortunately my partner does not play puzzle games at all. But despite him not understanding why, he was very supportive during my several mental breakdowns. ;)
I envy you a little bit for a partner that plays puzzle games, too. It's so nice to be able to share the experience.
At that point I was desperately trying to find out why that panel was there. ^^ Took my really long to realize that that's it's purpose.
That said, I suppose my actual first environmental puzzle was at the end of The Looker, which I played first while waiting for a sale of The Witness. ^_^
But I think we all thought similar thoughts. "That's so cool." and of course "What did I just do." ^^
