Ashfall is set in a world devastated by a great calamity, leaving only a wasteland in its wake. However, humanity has survived the apocalypse, and new settlements have sprung up around the land. In Ashfall, you take on the role of one of the Wanderers, who are tasked with searching for the mysterious Core of Creation and using its powers to save humanity from destruction.
The latest trailer for Ashfall featured a brand-new look as its Eastern-inspired wasteland, using an aesthetic seldom seen in post-apocalyptic games. From the decorations in the festive shelters of Hope Town to the hall filled with Eastern shrines, players will have the chance to experience a whole new kind of wasteland in Ashfall.
The trailer also revealed some of the different biomes and terrains in the game, as you will need to climb snow-covered mountains, cross scorching hot deserts, and hide from the mechanical horrors that roam in each oasis. In addition, you will be able to explore all manner of natural environments in Ashfall, each with their treasures to find and guardians to defeat.
The players won’t be the only inhabitants of the wasteland in Ashfall. The new trailer showed off many of the unique NPCs you can encounter in the game, each belonging to different factions and serving their own ambitions. These include an old woman with a mechanical limb, who provides the player with a handmade firearm and sets them on the mission to find the Core of Creation, as well as a heavily-armored wasteland robot and a one-eyed lady sporting a cheongsam who acts as a leader.
The wasteland of Ashfall is beautiful to behold, but the same cannot be said for the monsters that reside there. The new trailer showed off some of the enemies players will face in Ashfall, including giant four-armed lizards, humanoid aberrations, colossal spiders, and the mechanical menaces that roam the skies. Of course, the music is also a huge part of the experience. Ashfall’s score is co-produced by Oscar winner and Hollywood music master Hans Zimmer, as well as Steven Mazzaro and Fallout series music producer Inon Zur. Together, these maestros have created an ingenious soundtrack that will bring the wasteland to life with an audio-visual feast that will immerse you in the game world.
Ashfall’s main storyline involves finding the secret mechanical relic, the Core of Creation. The quest to find this mythical item will set you on a journey across mountains and rivers and through other survivors' bases until you reach the mysterious site where it’s housed. It’s said that those who find the Core of Creation might uncover the secrets of the disaster that created the wasteland, as well as find the key to reviving human civilization.
At its core, Ashfall is a third-person shooter, with players fighting back to back and exploring dangerous dungeons in search of loot. The combat system involves cover shooting elements, as players dash between vantage points to get in an enemy’s blind spot and fight them from a safe position. Outside of the combat, the trailer also shows off Ashfall’s puzzles, home-building, and weapon-crafting systems, allowing you to participate in different survival experiences in this post-apocalyptic world.
The biggest reveal in the latest Ashfall trailer is that the new beta test will start in July and will be available on PC and mobile devices simultaneously. For instance, the lounge area will start off as just a few worn sofas where companions (characters that can be recruited for combat) can rest when not out on an adventure. Once you upgrade the base, you'll be able to house more companions in the lounge area. The base also has a shooting range you can unlock and use Gears to practice your pistol skills. As your pistol mastery improves, you'll learn special talents to increase pistol damage in battle and gain more skills.
You can also put furniture you collect in your adventures you want in the lounge. Adding furniture will help make the base more comfortable. When comfort reaches a certain level, it'll improve rest and restore more Stamina when you're inside. And when you collect certain special furniture pieces, you can permanently increase your character's combat stats.
Aside from these functions and decorative aspects, the base also allows you to enjoy the benefits of pre-war technology and intelligence, such as with automated mines and exploration robots! You'll also receive network communications to solve others' material needs, but we'll get to that in the next blog. Stay tuned!
Heya, it's Tree here. Glad to be back! This time, I'm sharing a short video, which has two main takeaways. The first is that we're almost done with the adjustments of weapon handling and recoil which are now very close to other mainstream games. It's just about where we want it with faster RPM and better stability, but we're still keeping the stronger recoil for a sense of authenticity. When players first start off in the game, some will get their hands on some weapon accessories like scopes, magazines, stocks, and more. The status of these accessories will affect the handling difficulty of a weapon, sometimes for better... sometimes for worse. By way of compensation, we'll be supplying a firepower multiplier to the accessories that make firing more difficult. It's such a wild design, I honestly love it! Hahahaha
Don't worry: there's no auto combat or auto pathfinding. That would really undermine the sense of exploration and immersion we're after. In fact, players can only access some of the game's side quests or trigger certain events when they take the initiative to explore.
Oh yeah, we've got tons of weapon types. The main categories are: Auto Weapons (like automatic rifles and submachine guns), Semi-Auto Weapons (like sniper rifles, shotguns, and pistols), and Heavy Weapons (like machine guns). Not only that, but all of these weapon types have their own builds. Consider the sniper rifle. There's one build for accurate headshots, helping you deal additional damage and quick kills with headshots. Another is for bleeding, which is less about accuracy and more about debuffs, causing the target to lose HP over time and be unable to heal. The third is for stealth, so that when you hit an enemy you'll enter stealth mode and disappear from their sight as you acquire all sorts of buffs. All of these builds align with different equipment statuses and will help you figure out your own combat style. There's something for everyone!
Don't you worry: we've got tons of multiplayer options like multiplayer instances and PvP areas, so no one needs to go solo. I recommend joining the same guild with your friends so you all can have the same objective. For instance, we're working on a Guild Secret Realm where guild members can explore and divvy up loot together. And hey, if you acquire enough meat there, you can throw a barbeque! Guilds also have their own shop to sell and purchase unique items. As guilds reach higher levels, there will be even more types of shop items. We'll be sure to add social content based on player needs.
Hahaha, this goes without saying! That's one of the best parts of post-apocalyptic games. During character creation, you can pick your favorite prototype out of a dozen, and from there pick two starting traits out of more than 20. (Don't worry, you can find an NPC to change these, so they're not locked in). Every time you level up, there'll be all kinds of Talents to choose from, and once you've reached the midway point, you'll be able to develop different combat builds and fight with various combat-aid items. You're really going to sink your teeth into this world, given that we've also got Mounts and Companions to collect and develop. As if all this wasn't enough, we've also got a body implant system in the works... but that's all I'll say about that!
As far as repetitive tasks go, many of them are designed to ensure there's enough content, but since we've got a good variety of content to enjoy, this shouldn't be a big issue. We have all sorts of oddball missions which will take you even deeper into a post-apocalyptic world like you've never seen before. You'll come across characters with all sorts of opportunities. You're gonna really love these missions.
We've got even more than that. You'll discover a whole pack of lizards gathered for a meeting. You'll discover a giant insect that, and once you defeat it and cut open its remains you'll see it contains a TANK! You might even discover the pair of talking Bunny Bros. :D
Hi, everyone! Today let us introduce two extraordinary Companions to you: Xu and Dispatcher.
Dispatcher, on the other hand, can continuously restore your Armor really fast while in your team. All your pieces of equipment provide Armor. Enemies can only deal damage to your health once Armor has been depleted , and it'll automatically recover over time.
As for these two Companion’s background stories, rumor has it that Xu makes a living off of bounty, showing up in bars and alleyways to lend a hand for all sorts of problems. Some even say that he's just some hyper-futuristic smart fluid merely posing as human. Dispatcher, on the other hand, is a pre-war service robot. Its job used to be express deliveries. To this day, it is still making deliveries— except now, they’re all explosives.
Hello, everyone! I’m Kitten96 from the development team and would like to share with you what I’ve been working on lately.
Once I’ve decided on the direction, one problem still need to be solved first. Given that the Puzzles are placed in wide open areas of the battlefield, how would they draw players’ attention and arouse their curiosity to come close and interact with the puzzles? Well, I realized that many top-shelf games have been ingeniously giving us the answer: the feeling of incongruity.
Content-wise, we've just added two new modes: Secret Realm and No Man's Land. The Secret Realm is a HUGE map to explore. Once you're able to get in, there are tons of mysteries to unravel and, of course, tough enemies to fight. The kicker? Players can get great rewards here — including capturable mounts! No Man's Land is a PvP mode where four teams can duke it out. You'll be tasked with searching for and bringing out some treasure from No Man’s Land. But I mean, if you can't find it, you could always just find the *team* who is carrying it and, well, things have a way of happening...
Oh yeah, we've got all of that. We've got oodles of different cities, and towns that belong to different factions with unique backstories. We've also got TONS of different landscapes and areas to explore and adventure on, with all sorts of mutated creatures and enemies.
Voice cast is SO important for immersion, so we'll have full voice cast for all the main quests and important side quests. We're already doing some English voice cast at the moment, given the strong demand for it! You'll be able to choose from voice casts of different languages that works best for you.
I totally agree with this. Exploration is the soul of post-apocalyptic games and I personally love the feeling of wandering in a vast, unfamiliar world. Rest assured, we'll be sure to offer lots of modes of exploration. And you can also find rich rewards and have lots of mysterious encounters.
Random encounters are crucial for the exploration experience and an important part in our design. There'll be plenty of different random encounters to be experienced when you are exploring! For instance, you might come across a group of flesh worms marching in a line — or even find a time machine. One time when I was playing our game, I was looking for something to do in a bar when someone told me to meet him out back in an alleyway later on. WELL when I showed up, I passed out and... hmm, I won’t tell you what happened next.
We've got multiplayer instances and PvP modes for sure. So far exploration is mainly for solo mode. That being said, we've got some areas in the works for players to go explore together. For instance, players can join a Guild and go to these areas with other Guild members to earn some rewards. We'll see what resonates most with you before deciding to add more multiplayer areas.
We've got you covered as far as dust goes, and the visual changes based on the time of day to really amp up the setting. Some quests can only be accepted at certain times of the day based on when NPCs appear. There are even some quests you can only receive if you are around an NPC and listen to his ramblings long enough before he reveals some key info.
