I played this game through in about 4 hours with one other person. We experienced genuine emotions of fear, hopelessness, joy, and achievement during those 4 hours. Without spoiling the levels they have some truly unique mechanics that build on each other so that by the final level that has been released on 9/7/24 you start to feel like a real bad ass. There are some genuine jump scares that got me repeatedly but not in a way that felt cheap. Once you know what to do the levels are not so bad but that first time figuring out what is going on is really thrilling. Genuine to the backrooms genre, you never know what you are going to get next. I found myself torn between the familiarity of the terror I had just mastered and the uncertainty of what might be next if I went forward. It was a fun feeling and a fun game. The one guy, Blake who makes this game also clearly cares a lot about it, and I was amazed to read that he does it all mostly himself for now. It's so impressive for the experience I just had. It was definitely the most fun I've had in a game in a long time. If I had paid that price just as a one time experience somewhere I would have felt my money had been well spent. The fact that I get to own this as it grows and evolves is just the cherry on top. People on here saying that the game has no danger and is boring I don't really understand what they are looking for. I am not really a horror game person... so I don't want to be cut up by chainsaws... I'll pass on that kind of danger. This had plenty of scares for me. I definitely screamed at multiple points and my hands were sweating. TMI To be honest I think the pacing and tone of the whole thing was stellar. The graphics are simply incredible; I truly felt like I was playing a triple A title. Amazing work. Very much looking forward to the update in October. The pacing, visuals, sound design, and mechanic design was everything I could have wanted.

Steam is riddled with a vast amount of reused "Backrooms" genre games, so I went into this game expecting the exact same snoozefest level after level of loud and unoriginal jumpscares. To my pleasant surprise, this is not what i was met with in "Backrooms: Escape Together". For starters, without going into the actual content of the game itself, the visuals are triple A level and the gameplay is smooth. "Backrooms: Escape Together" has a perfect blend of its terrifying fast paced levels whilst also creating a sense of uncomfortability in the absence of the noise. I especially enjoyed how the game ascends from being a complete the objective and run from the monster type of gameplay and as it progresses begins to become more oriented around actually learning how to survive against the new entities the game throws at you and using the tools given to you to find your way to the end, such as its unique 'LIDAR' level which allows you to feel through the dark and process the world at you in mere frames at a time. These kinds of unique gameplay mechanics and level designs make for an actual enjoyable and chilling experience rather than the normal copy paste backrooms format.
