The concept is fine (I never played the original, so I can't comment on a comparison) but the animation is glitchy as all get out (I've had to restart twice because a character got stuck in a rock or somesuch and I couldn't get him to turn around) and the controls are pretty terrible. You can't change them, either, and I've died a couple of times simply because the keyboard layout isn't great. The visual design makes things hard to discover--is there a rope here? No idea, since it's almost the same color as the stone--and come across as the weird CGI from the early aughts when we were first figuring it out. Everything is sort of unnecessarily grim and mean; I just hit a scene where there's a death for seemingly absolutely no story purpose, which is...a choice.
I'm about halfway through and so will probably finish just to see where it goes, but this isn't fun to play. It's a shame, because I can tell there's some thought to the storyline, but the mechanics, look, and shallowness of it are just rough. Not something I'd tell others to put time into.

Finally played the game in online coop mode with a close friend, I waited for the devs to fix all the bugs and glitches and I can say that this remake of the original game is a love letter to the fans who cried so hard for the coop mode (me first). The experience has been a blast and we both loved playing it. The wait was well worth. The scenes are marvelous and everything feels like a piece of art. Thank you!
