INDUSTRIA 2

INDUSTRIA 2

Competent storytelling this time?
Don't get me wrong, atmosphere and ideas were nice in Industria 1 ... but the characterizatins and storytelling was completely off.

Imagine in HL 1 Gordon Freeman reaching the surface knowing that Xen creatures and HECU soldiers want to kill him and then he stops (player control is taken away) and he screams that every enemy within a mile can hear him "HEEEELLLO. ANYBODY THERE? HEEEELLLOOO. I AM HERE. ARE YOU THERE???"

That was the kind of storytelling and charecterizations we got in Industria 1 ... horribly incompetent. And yes, it is OK, if there isn't a writer on the team, it is a small indie game in the end ... but then keep the writing simple so that only very little can go wrong and the characters you play aren't coming across as most stupid person in the universe.

Sure, we are also gonna try to make the story good. The scene you mentioned was done like that on purpose though, as Nora was looking for Walter and not saving the world from an alien invasion like gordon:) Apart from that, Gordon is a mute character, who knows what he would have said if Valve wouldnt have designed the game purposefully with a mute main character.

Greetings

THe problem was the following:

RIght before that scene she was attacked by robots and also told that nobody came along for years ... yet she goes right into the open where more of the technical stuff is seen and screams aloud which would be the dumbest thing in the world... don't put the player into the shoes of a character that does stupid stuff ... it gets the players out of the immersion (well, in my case it led to the uninstall button) ... ;-) ... and it feels like the character is doing it because it was written so by an amateur author not because it would have been done that way by that character in real life.
