Magazine Clip - does it matter when you pick it up?

Does magazine clip double all clip sizes going forward, or does it just double clip size of the weapons you have when you get it?

Does it matter when I grab it? In other words, is it wasted taking it early when I'm on starter weapons - or should I wait until I've maxed my weapons during a run? Or does it even matter?

Related - does your clip size get cut in half when you swap it out?

Hi! It should not matter when you take it, it'll stay active for old and new weapons from the moment you add it to your inventory. If you remove it, it should remove the additional ammo.
