Same Localization?
Did this get a new localization or are we still working with horrible localization from the actual fraudulent company that was GaijinWorks?

(Gaijin was fraudulent? This I'd like to hear about. Something about CoH3, I'm guessing.)

Doesn't look to be entirely the same, at least. Already, I see "Swordsman" instead of "Samurai", and "Bahamoon" instead of "Bahamun".

Yeah, they kinda ghosted the whole community with their promises of CoH3 that never came. They still advertise it on their company website, but I think thats only because no one has updated that site in nearly a decade. I don't even know how it's still running.

But if this is a new localization, maybe there is hope we might see a CoH3 remaster on PC. Particularly since CoH2G had been Gaijinworks as well, and the remaster is a different company.

(sorry for late reply, steamdeck apparently doesnt notify me of replies)

Back when Gaijin was still around it was all but confirmed it was the latest in a line of shell companies that buy up a few licenses, do a ♥♥♥♥ job and then abandon the company after about 3-5 years and setup shop somewhere else.
This was based on people on certain boards tracking down paperwork and realizing different employees were the same people from these past companies whos activity never overlapped and a trend popped out.
The main theory as to why they even do this is tax fraud but just like everything else this will probably never be verified so do with this info what you will.

This is a total load of bs and potential libel

I'll give a brief history

The guy who was president of Gaijinworks was also president of Working Designs. His name is Victor Ireland.

Working Designs was a video game publisher who began translating and publishing games for the Turbografx-16. They unfortunately went out of business in 2005, At the time, they were doing PS2 games where management at Sony became hostile towards them. Their last game, Growlancer Generations, Sony forced them to sell the two separate games as one. Their almost last game, Mystical Ninja Goemon Zero, they continued to do work on for years despite Sony rejecting it multiple times. This caused Working Designs to run out of money and die.

Victor Ireland essentially immediately created a new company, Gaijinworks, and began networking trying to build his way back up to making it a new Working Designs. Yeah, he had some of the same employees from Working Designs. He was getting there, but shortly after Summon Night 6 came out only God seems to know what happened.

1 guy. 2 companies. Working Designs made a name for itself by NOT doing a ♥♥♥♥ job. Gaijinworks isn't a 'shell company'. Its not bankrupt. The employees are public figures you can look up, not shadowy men in black. Someone is clearly still paying domain fees for the gaijinworks website. But, yeah. The website is neglected. Hasn't been updated in years. Summon Night 6 was delisted. Class of Heroes 2 rights clearly lapsed. Victor Ireland has basically gone MIA with some people saying he had some sort of emergency or died. Not many people seem to have an idea what happened there.

You can look up any of this stuff online including people openly asking WTF happened to VIctor Ireland and finding no answers.

Having been a passing fan of Working Designs in the 16-bit age, I can tell you or anyone else that Victor Ireland is perhaps the most unfairly hated man in the video game industry. Working Designs in particular is hated to the point where there are people who dedicate themselves to rom-hacking out the changes Working Designs made to the games they brought to North America. Its the only company I know of to have that distinction (which, in a few cases, is completely justified.. the saving system in Lunar 2 EB is straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)

Thanks for this post tho. I was going to ask if Gaijinworks had anything to do with this game. Apparently they do not! Which begs the question of WTF happened to Victor Ireland and Gaijinworks even more!

edit: failed to mention this: look up the prices of Working Designs' games. You typically won't find Magic Knight Rayearth for less than $1000

double edit: If you actually do have some proof that the guy was up to some bizarro tax evasion scheme, I'd like to see it. Most of what you said contradicts reality there.

if anyone who read the last reply doesn't believe me, and wants a more comprehensive history about Victor Ireland, the rise and fall of Working Designs, and creation of Gaijinworks this article does a good job even though its focused on the game Working Designs couldn't release

the current state of Victor Ireland and Gaijinworks is a mystery and doesn't look good. ALTHOUGH, Gaijinworks is still around.

"its not a shell company it just exists and doesnt do anything "

"theres no legal shenanigans, the creator just vanished off the face of the planet after taking the money post SN6"

yea, okay buddy
"duh I don't know what a shell company is, but its the latest in a long list"

"the creator disappeared after SN6 didn't do well. He must have gotten a bunch of money illegally I guess!"

"lol tl;dr fraud illegal criminal! gaijinworks touched me inappropriately!"

low effort and lazy.

if you want to go this route, just go to the Vay discussion page and make a post titled "Is this the same version Working Designs RUINED?!"
