Demo Feedback 19.07.24
I played the demo for about an hour and wrote down my feedback as I played.
If I made any mistakes in my feedback or missed something, please feel free to let me know.
I hope this feedback is helpful :D

Feedback:

- When a new hero can be chosen to join, show if any combinations will happen in your team or if it works towards a combination in your team. This could be done by simply showing the name of combo as well as the symbols above the character's portrait.
For example, let's say that in my party I have the mercenary, who has a combo called "Rooting Bolt" that requires 2 nature and 1 thief. Then let's say I find a character that has 'Thief', when I hover over this character (or am in the character stats menu), there will be a panel above my Mercenary's portrait that says the name of the combo "Rooting Bolt" and next to that will be the 3 icons, Nature, Thief, Nature (in the same order as the combo in the stats panel). Of course if I would already have a Nature type character in my party, 1 nature would be lit up (with the white outline) while the other icons would not.
I hope that is a sufficient explanation.
I think this would truly make it easier to make combos and see which characters would fit your party best without having to memorize every single combo or go through every party member's stats screen every time.

- Reduce delay in explanation windows popping up. This is mainly an issue with the skill tree menu where it is really difficult to compare skills when the window takes like a second to pop up.

- The skill tree window should be able to be enlarged with text right below the skills so it is easier to compare the skills and see which one would work best.

- Skill tree upgrades should show the new stats when explaining what they do. For instance, if an upgrade reduces the attack time by 1.0 seconds, it should show the base time as well, so something like this:
-0.5s [Attack] Cooldown
2.0s -> 1.5s
+20 [Ultimate] Power
50 -> 70

I think this would make it much easier to see what an upgrade would do without having to compare the stats screen to the skill tree every time you want to check if a skill is worth it.

- Don't use ults when no enemies are in range. I am not entirely sure if that happens but I thought I saw some ults being used right at the start of battle when auto-ult is enabled, despite no enemies being in range of the ultimate, ultimately (see what I did there? :D) wasting the ult.

- Show what resources you are more likely to get from an area. This way players will know what areas to prioritize to get the upgrades they want

- Make white backgrounds for characters black or different color based on rarity. I personally think the white doesn't look too great for most characters.

- Save last used speed. When a player ends their current area on 2.0 speed, the next area should just also start at 2.0 speed, not the default 1.0.

- Everything is too expensive. I feel like everything costs a ton and not much gold is given to pay for nearly anything. 1 upgrade means you cannot afford anything else till you find some crows (the event which can give 100g).

- More character art variety would be great I think. Not anything that makes a character look super different or unique, but at least enough to make them not all look identical. Perhaps giving a slight upgrade to their art depending on rarity would be good enough.

- Show sold equipment price so that when a piece of equipment is sold, players know how much it will give them.

- Re-balance the audio a bit, some effects are super loud while others are just fine.

- I personally think it could be kinda cool to have some sort of Macro system where you set certain abilities or attacks or maybe just ultimates to only activate under certain circumstances, like if an ult does more damage to bleeding enemies, a macro that checks if enemies are bleeding would be great. Manually playing an auto-battler with 6 characters and also enemies to pay attention to, some of which can look the same as your party, is quite difficult, so I think at least the ults should have some sort of macro system, if possible of course.

All-in-all, I think this game is great and has a ton of potential. The art is great, gameplay is fun, team-building has variety and even skill trees per character make it even more customizable.
The music is the best I've heard in a while. I usually turn music down or off in games because I'd rather hear the other sounds, but here it is just so darn good like I could listen to this stuff for a long time, it's fantastic.
I also love the interactive environment, clicking on things while watching your units fight and actually having something happen is super fun to do. I really hope that the devs will work more with this concept, maybe some secret puzzles or more unique interactions per object would be great!
I really think this game has a good base already, it just needs some QoL improvements to make gameplay more accessible as well as enjoyable and it needs some more variety in some places, other than that, looking great!
I wish the devs the best of luck with this game :D

Hi Caspian.

Wow! Thank you for the super detailed feedback. This is excellent. I can't promise we can address everything you mentioned, but we'll definitely take it all into account.

I'll address 2 points specifically, but will take everything with me and share with the other giraffe. :)

You are right that it's a bit too hard to see which combos will get activated when buying a character and that's something we can hopefully improve. You have some good suggestions which we'll consider when discussing how to solve this further. I'm not sure whether they are technically viable, but suggestions like these are great as we can build on them.

Regarding prices, we'll have another pass at both difficulty and pricing before release. We're adding a bunch of new zones and events. Once they are in we'll be better able to tune prices properly.

Thanks again for taking the time to write something this detailed. It's really awesome! :)
