Old school, classic RTS game finally here on Steam.


+ All factions are distinct and their tactics somewhat reflect the real world. My favourite, the GLA doesnt have air force and they dont need power, they have the fastest units, although they are not very powerful. Fight with deception, hit and run, traps, etc.

+ Music is legendary. Absolute bangers, especially GLA and USA soundtrack are both amazing. Absolutely brilliant even just by themselves.

+ Voice acting is on par with other legends like Warcraft 3 or Age of Mythology. So many memorable quotes.

+ Campaign is good. There are some interesting missions. It never gets stale, the entire thing is like 8 hours although be warned that higher difficulties are actually pretty damn difficult.

+ Some of the quotes and missions wouldnt be made today, they cover some pretty sensitive topics and the parody in this game is amazing. A big thumbs up for that.

+ For me personally, there is a lot of nostalgia for this game and many others. One of my childhood RTS games, they dont make them like they used to anymore.

+ For me the graphics are amazing. They hold up extremely well, everything looks sharp and distinctive. All the buildings, units, civilians and others just look good.

+ There is a surprising amount of detail to everything - environments are varied, you can destroy it somewhat, there is a lot of flooding changing how the maps play, some units have variations like the GLA Technical (light armoured vehicle) has like three to four variations. Infantry units limp and are slowed down if they take damage and many others. This is one of the things that fascinated me when i was a kid and its interesting even today.


- The pathfinding is absolutely terrible. Good luck moving your units through passes, over bridges and cities. Everyone will get stuck with maybe one or two units crossing.

- AI is not great. Sometimes they dont rebuild destroyed buildings, your units also have terrible AI, never engaging enemies that outrange them, just letting themselves get destroyed. Move attack order is absolutely terrible, never use this. You have to babysit all your units.

- Although there are quite a few mechanics, its always the easiest to just make a big ball of death consisting of your tanks and some anti infantry / air. This is a shame because the gameplay can be interesting. There is no reason to really use air force or traps or ambushes and such.

- 30 fps cap that cant be removed. I really dont like this.


This was one of the better RTS' back then and cosidering the state of RTS games today, its probably still a good recommendation for RTS fans today.

Old school RTS. Took forever to port it to Steam. Just glad it's still around for old veteran farts like me.
