The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Sharing my controller layout
Hey all! I recently decided to start a new save on my PC after previously attempting to play it on my Xbox. Now I'm finally able to try out all these mods, but the controller support was lacking and I will always prefer to play games like this with a controller... so.. I decided to make my own layout.

It took a few hours, but I think I've got it.

My goal with this layout was to make all functionality (except for 6 of the 8 weapon hotkeys) possible and intuitive using an Xbox controller.

I've tried to make shortcuts that do related things be on the same button.

LT and LB add extra functionality to the layout. They also help to change scrolling speed in the menus, making going through the Journal much more convenient.

To find in Community Layouts, search "W957 Elder"

Button List

A: Select / Activate (SHORT HOLD) / Ready Weapon (LONG HOLD) / Drop Item (LT + A)
B: Back / Journal
X: Cast Spell / Spell Menu (LT + X)
Y: Zoom Out (HOLD Y) / Zoom In (LT + HOLD Y)

LT: Block
RT: Attack

LB: Jump
RB: Grab

Left Joystick: Movement
- Click: Run / Toggle Run (DOUBLE-TAP) / Lock Run (LT + TAP)

Right Joystick: Look
- Click: Sneak / Wait (HOLD)

Menu: Pause / QuickSave (LT + MENU) / QuickLoad (LB + MENU)
Share: Journal / Inventory (LT + SHARE)

D-Pad: Selection in menus.
- With up/down, holding LT scrolls fast.
- With up/down, holding LB scrolls slow.
- With left/right, holding LT switches Groups left & right in Journal.

Favourites 1 & 2:
- To keep things simple, I added just two favourites, accessible by pressing LT+LB and LT+RB.
- It's actually possible to equip to these favourites using just the controller.

Sensitivity: I personally found 200% to be perfect for my XOne controller.

Note:

The only areas that require the "mouse" are the maps, the Emotion Wheel for NPC and some buttons in f.ex. trading menus. I haven't found dragging/clicking with RT and the Right Stick too annoying myself, but some may find it less convenient.

No worries! I hope it didn’t sound like I was saying something bad about M&K - this is just for me as I personally prefer the controller for adventure games. Thought I’d share in case someone else finds it intuitive :)
