Although you might have to update GFWL to initally play the game, there is no longer a key given to connect it to GFWL.
While I am, personally, an achievement/trophy w****, I could really care less concerning a game like this. I played it a fair bit on ps3, and a fair bit on here. I just play this game from time to time to revisit the world. Same goes for New Vegas for that matter.
With that said, I can understand why it'd be a reason why you'd get back into it. And looking at the age of the game, I really doubt there would be steam-achievements added anytime soon........but then again KotR 2 was recently updated with Achievements so you never know!
If you have little reason to come back to it except for achievements - then you didn't love the game. You, at best, sort of liked it and think it would be better if it had all these cool progress bars to fill.

Achievements would be more than enough for me to replay this game, for the fun of unlocking them all. Not for the sake of wasting time playing it again.
If unlocking achievements on their own is that much fun for you, then you'll love Progress Quest, linked above.
But you do realize that many motivational progress-mechanics in games like e.g.
- collecting things ingame (like the snow globes in Fallout or coins in arcade games)
- level progress ingame in general (including exp)
- cleaning levels of enemies
- finish all quests in a specific area
- exhaust all dialogue options with a character
- winning races in games or improve own best times
- even finishing games
work exactly the same way achievments work? They all offer the player some sense of achievement. And people like to achieve things (triggers endorphin) - and that includes Steam-Achievements.

I still prefer high scores as a skill demonstration... but some things, like HL2:Ep2's gnome launching -- are achievements done right. I value something like that, not successfully reaching chapter 2 of a story or making it beyond the first square on the map.
Too bad few games come with customizable dopamine responses. Harder difficulty levels seem to bring me a sense of a achievement that participation awards do not... but I can understand how some gotta get'em all!
