Character Creator UI is gray
Everything is fine with New Vegas besides the character creation screen, the screen itself is black and the "pip-boy" is gray. I have my steam cloud backed up to my old modded saves and I'd wish to get rid of them because I think that may be what's corrupting it (I deleted every other instance of mods in my cloud/files). Everything else in the game completely works fine so I cannot tell if its a performance issue or a mod issue.

I have a windows 11 i7 with an intel Iris xe gpu

(if you want screenshots of my files or the issue itself, feel free to contact me. I just want to play my comfort game.)

No idea what your issue is, but it's probably not related to a file not validating in Steam. That always happens.

Important: One or more files may fail to verify.
This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

1 file will always fail to validate, that's the ini file that gets generated on every launch. So that's not the issue.

It's an issue with mods, uninstalling would normally fix it but you need to delete the folder in my documents because it can have residual files, and using the same save files will likely cause the same bug because whatever mod screwed it up is baked into the save file. You'll have to start a new game, and also diagnose the mod causing the problem and not use that mod.
no. the inis are excluded, as are saves, if you uninstall the game, it does not touch My Games\FalloutNV\ in the least... that's not what fails, it's that you ran the 4GB LAA patcher on the FalloutNV.exe executable, so the checksums are different.

as for gray screen and DXVK, that also requires you have Vulkan set up, your gpu installed Vulkan libs when it installed the driver, etc. WHY are you using DXVK? could you not get DirectX 9 native to work? you say Windows 11 on Intel, but what's your GPU?

I deleted all trace of saves/mods yet I still have the bug, do you suggest deleting the fallout.ini.Baked file? Thank you.
