In each of the past eleven Steam Sales, the Legendary Edition has been priced at USD 5.99.
The other ten available teams are not currently offered at any discount. In previous Steam Sales, they have been offered at 40-66% discount (not counting any potential additional package discount).
I wouldn't be surprised if you're right about the rest, though. BB3 has been on sale ten times in 2024.
Well, looks like I'll be giving Blood Bowl a miss.
its focus that are the publisher for Blood bowl 2 Nacon is the publisher for BB3 so they are diffferent, however cyanide is the developer, so same company different team.
There is no point in putting the game on sale because the company making BB3 does not make any money what so ever in promoting a game thats now pretty old and also they fact that it does not have the new rule set.
In saying that tho BB2 is pretty much complete as far as Blood bowl 2 goes for 2016 ruleset, i think its still worth to buy the game but make sure you get legendary edition as it will have the extra internal league and also an extra 8 teams
It's a game I'd take a punt on on sale, but not something I'd pay full whack for, since, as you say, it's a pretty old game, as well as the fact that the complete game used to go on sale for a fraction of the currently asked for price.
I can spend the same money getting a whole bunch of top-rated games in a sale.
BB3 is literally the same game as BB2 with better graphics. This means someone who buys BB3 won't buy BB2, while someone who has already bought BB2 won't necessarily want to fork out a hundred bucks just for what is essentially a "better graphics patch".
So as a result, BB2 and BB3 are direct rivals for the Devs customer base. So why would the Devs want to discount BB2 and encouraging people to buy it instead of their newer game? They'd be more likely to discontinue BB2 entirely.
It seems the developers of BB3 don't have confidence in their product when measured against a game that's ten years old. BB3 has a current Steam review score of 49%. From what I've read, BB3 is worse for single-player than BB2.
This is not completely true
They are 2 different publishers, also BB3 is not the same as BB2, BB3 has a newer rule set, and is completely different than BB2, BB2 is however more complete for its BB2016 rule set than BB3 is for rule set BB2020.
That's pretty much it. This has also split the community because some people prefer the BB2016 rules set because this is over years of play testing and is prob the most tested and complete set. BB3 and the BB2020 rule set is new and needs more time to be balanced. As well as all the bugs they are trying to fix with skills etc and exploits in the game.
