While I don't expect Hammer of Pain to be a blockbuster, with some strategic tweaks to add variety it could receive a more balanced review. Fans of games like Kingdom Two Crowns should still enjoy Hammer of Pain
I am at the part with the rogue camp and it is incredibly frustrating to fight them. They are so fast and I have to get the timing right so many times and every time you die you start again...from the first rogue...And I saw there are three so I'm assuming you have to get right three boss battles in a row...
Since I can't advance anymore I have put it on pause since it was becoming not fun!
Combat might be the weaker part in my opinion. I like the rest for the most part!
Also, I helped the musicians with some food and the achievement for helping them didn't trigger.
I kinda liked it. The quests are decent, if nothing spectacular.
It's a bit clunky at times. I did not like that there's a lot of running back and forth. Particularly when I didn't notice a key item laying on the ground, like the handle of the axe, or the seedling (not as much running with that, I just didn't see it for a solid couple of minutes).
The combat definitely needs some work. My experience was that the dodge roll didn't work at all against the rogues (or anything else for that matter), it was far more reliable to jump over the rogues or their bolts. The crossbow bolts would sometimes disappear in mid-air before hitting me or registering a hit, and sometimes they would get shot out of thin air when the rogue had already disappeared.
Okay, I replayed up until the musicians and stuck around to listen to their song. Nothing special happened. So I think this achievement is broken, in the current build (Build ID 12438109).
I noticed that the API name of the achievement is "Quest_vimpy_dimpy", instead of e.g. "Quest_vimpy_timpy" like I expected given the name of the achievement and the musicians. Thus, I suspect there's a simple typo in the code or the achievement's definition.
I can't recomend this game for my friends as it is. It's a pity because I liked all other things, beside the combat. Maybe when a better version be released I may play it again...
