Steam deck isn’t launching

Hi all,

OLED deck on latest stable OS

Have reinstalled EAC

Reinstalled proton GE

I have tried running the game with no compatibility tool, with proton experimental, and also with proton GE

None of these launch. It either gets stuck on “running install script” or stuck on the “abort launch” page where it will infinite load.

Can anyone tell me their exact configuration to get this to work? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, verified cache etc and no change.

Hi, for me i just changed the compatibility to Proton 9.0 (Beta)

I’ll try it again, but it seems to have issues no matter which version I pick

Never mind - applying 9-1 then 9-4 then proton experimental forced it to reload the epic launcher which somehow resolved this lol. It now runs on any proton I pick.

I had issues as well, the game worked great during the first week - but at some point it broke.

The game would actually crash my Steam Deck during the launch process, never had that happen before. Changing Proton versions or even deleting existing Proton files through the developer option did not work.

I was able to solve it by launching the game into desktop mode, that allowed it to install all of the frameworks/anti-cheat things it needed.

this explains so much as to why I used to be able to run the game and now can’t after I moved it to a different SD card the first time I ever launched it it was in desktop mode
