Technical Issues with Tropico 5 and Workarounds

If you have technical problems with Tropico 5 please write an e-mail to the Kalypso Media Support " support@kalypsomedia.com ".

Please include a description of your problem and a DxDiag.txt within the mail.

To create the DxDiag.txt, please do the following:

Click "Start" button and choose "Run". Or alternatively, press (Windows-Button)+R.
Then type "dxdiag" (without quotation marks) and click Ok.
You will find all relevant information in the following window.
Click the "Save all Information" button, located at the bottom of the program window.
Save the file as "dxdiag.txt".
Attach the file "dxdiag.txt" with your E-mail reply.

You need DirectX11 and a appropiate graphic card

Your System needs to meet the minimum system requirements.
Your graphics card has to support Direct X 11.

To play Tropico 5 you need at least an AMD Radeon HD 4000, nVidia Geforce 400 or an Intel HD 4000 or higher to run this game properly.

Graphical issues / Graphic glitches

Please make sure that your graphic card driver is up to date and meets the minimum system requirements.
If Tropico 5 only has poor performance please check if enabling VSync in the options makes any difference.

Scheduled multiplayer server maintenance

The Tropico 5 MP servers will have a scheduled maintenance for 30 minutes every Monday at 10:00am UTC. At 10:00 the servers auto-restart (dropping all connected players) and then refuse any new connections for the maintenance duration.

NVIDIA SLI

Some people have reported bugged visuals/textures in SLI.
Try run one GPU.
Most people who had this problem with SLI were immediately able to play without bugged visuals/textures.

Slow Menu/laggy menu
___________________________________________________

Make sure that your refresh rate is set to your monitor's refresh rate. Failure to do so causes lag. If it is still buggy, toggle through your settings ingame.

OS 6.x error
___________________________________________________

Make sure that steam recognizes your exact OS version first, and then go into compatibility settings and run the game in a compatibilty mode.
It also has been stated in the forums, that Steam working in compatibility mode is causing this and deactivating helps.

Performance Issues
___________________________________________________

Enabling Vsync and Disabling Post-Processing can increase the performance.

Make sure to opt out of the Steam client beta
(Steam > Settings > Account > Beta Participation)
and restart Steam if you're experiencing startup issues.

Linux Workarounds

- If your game has problems with starting and you can start it by using sudo. You have file permission issues.

- Installing on NTFS file system is not officially supported. Try using ext3 or ext4 if you have any issues.

- NVIDIA optimus (mobile NVIDIA) users that use bumblebee must start their application through optirun. Add launch options 'optirun %command%'. - Intel users should use 'MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.0 MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=400 %command%'.

- If you specify invalid monitor resolution and somehow manage to save it, then you can remove DeveloperStorage.lua to restore defaults.

The AMD Gaming Evolved Raptr App crashes the game. Please deactivate the feature, until a new version is released.

If you have problems with spinning camera while using your mouse to move the camera, try this:
Control panel -> Hardware and sound -> Devices and printers -> Mouse -> Pointer options -> Untag the option "Enhance pointer position"
