I did this to resolve some issue I was having when playing death stranding when using my ps4 controller. I tried this method with multiple games and often had success.
Yeah you can get them to have base functionality with Steam Input or third party emulation software, but only by tricking the game into thinking it's using an Xbox controller lol. It's not ideal and means you miss out on features like the designed controller audio and fancy vibration stuff.
Simply enabling Steam Input at the game properties worked for me and my ps4 controller
