Whispers of the Eyeless: A Prophet's Primer
Whispers of the Eyeless is a dark fantasy strategy RPG where you build a cult, unleash divine powers, and endure psychological trials. Command disciples, outwit enemies in tactical turn-based battles, and determine the fate of Aranthor as you awaken the Dead Gods — Wrath, Desire, and Madness.

Tactical Turn-Based Combat: Every move matters in the brutal conflicts of Aranthor. Plan your actions carefully, as both health and sanity hang by a thread. The art reflects the psychological toll and the high stakes of every encounter.

Cult Management: The Hall of the Faithful lets you oversee your disciples. Manage their health, sanity, and traits as you send them on missions to expand your influence and fulfill the will of the Dead Gods.

Dungeon Exploration: Events like 'The Office' test your resolve and strategy. Will you meditate to regain sanity, or press forward for greater rewards? Every choice alters your disciples' fate and the resources you command.

Fate’s Mirror: Roguelite Challenges: In Fate’s Mirror, cultists are tested against randomized scenarios. Unlock shards that reshape the game with new modifiers, powers, and playstyles, ensuring no two runs are ever the same.

Base Building & Customization: The Sanctum, your ever-expanding bastion of power in Aranthor. Upgrade rooms like the Reliquary to craft cursed relics or the Hall of Faith to train disciples. Your choices shape its layout and functionality, but every expansion risks exposure to the Living Gods—especially in Fate’s Mirror, where strategic upgrades play a crucial role in roguelite runs.

Handcrafted Art: The hand-drawn art brings Aranthor’s decay and desperation to life. Bold, intricate visuals enhance the game’s roguelite loop, ensuring every run feels uniquely tied to the city’s haunting atmosphere. The details—etched in shadow and light—immerse you in the grim world of Wrath, Desire, and Madness.

Perks?

Is there any way in game yet to have a hover description or anything? The GIddiness perk just says "Special: +2 per gift activated". So.. plus 2 what? Is there a trait that is called "Special"? I understand this game is early access, I am not dogging on anyone, just honestly not sure what that means currently, so anyone who knows and willing to answer would be awesome....

Great game, I do want to point out how mesmerizing and great on the eyes the art is for this game. really fits the style and is just so refreshing, This game really lets you do whatever you want as the player. you have multiple ways to complete tales by choosing what way you want to go and how you handle the encounters. there is plenty of blessings to unlock that fit your play style needs. have not quite figured out what kind of weapons there are but so far it seems like there is different weapon classes to choose from as well to pick what kind of armor you are rocking. Also the dialog in this game is just perfect for the story so props up to the team for that. also the fact you are able to make your own cult and run it as you please. for a early access game there's enough here to justify the price. the devs are constantly working on this and posting upcoming features in their discord page so I really cant wait to see the progress of this game as we go. very good work guys.

This game needs improvements. It has some really good art and lore, especially if you're into Call of Cthulhu vibes. However, the gameplay feels confusing due to a lack of explanations for many mechanics. The strategy aspect is also very limited, particularly at the start, making your choices in combat feel meaningless. Your only real option is to attack. Also, about 60-80% of the gifts, which are like small passive buffs you receive after each fight, feels completely useless. Though i imagine some of them can be played around more in the late game when you have more options.

Overall, I give this game a 5 out of 10. And i still recommend it since it is in early access and has the a lot of potential to improve.

I am part of the early playtest team for Whispers of the Eyeless. I am not paid, I am a fan of the developer and have enjoyed his previous work.

Whispers is a rougelike RPG based on a powerful single-character that the player can endlessly customize. There are dozens of builds, each with strengths and weaknesses, which will give every playthrough a distinct feel and flavor. The high replayability, combined with the complex cult-management system makes for an engaging experience. Losing is no big deal, and finding something that works gives a solid sense of accomplishment.

The "lovecraftian" world is not what it seems, you are not merely some evil cult, appearances are very deceiving. The bleak atmosphere gives the player a morbid curiosity to keep going; what sort of inhuman cruelty have the Living Gods cooked up next? And how will you answer them; with even more insanity or perhaps kindness?

Artwork is very cool, has some kind of slavpunk feel, but set in the grimdark fantasy past. It's all very easy on the eyes and the battle animations, despite being 2D, feel alive and captivating.

This game has some serious potential, given it's only early access, as the roadmap for Whispers is quite large and I look forward to whatever the Devs have planned.

Steam Deck Issues

Looking forward to playing this, but I'm running into an issue on Steam Deck. The game starts and loads fine (60fps) but as soon as I gain control during the campaign tutorial, the game drops to 1 FPS and is unplayable. I tried adjusting the resolution, vSYNC and FPS cap settings, but nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated....
