Patch 1.0.9 + Rough Content Update Roadmap!

Another day, another patch.

Patch Notes 1.0.9

Fixed Encounters sometimes appearing more than once in a run
Fixed certain status effects on tiles not saving, e.g. “Static Cling” during the Ordinator of the Bridge Encounter
Fixed Skill Books in Crossroads Events sometimes showing a different skill before and after you take them
Fixed the buttons on the bottom left of the screen not activating during the dialogue sequence when beating an Encounter during Enemy Phase
Added descriptions to Terraform skills that detail the Tile type they transform tiles into
Minor UI tweaks and fixes

This should be the last 1.0.X patch… As we’re going to start putting out content updates!
Thanks to all your feedback, we have a good idea on what to focus on for Astral Throne’s future.

The update schedule will be a little variable, but here are our current plans for full transparency:

1.1.0: In a week or two

Knight and Battlemage class reworks
Encounter Balancing
QoL features

1.2.0: Late March/Early April

New Recruitable Militia Units
Rework Militia a bit to make them feel more unique

1.3.0: Early Summer

A lot of new Encounters in Acts 1 and 2
These Encounters will be spread amongst each of the Encounter types: Skirmishes, Battles, and Sieges

Updates after this will depend on further feedback, as well as how much money Astral Throne is continuing to make so we can sustain development.

Currently, we have these subsequent updates in mind, but they’re subject to change:

Adding more variety and skills to Hero Units
Adding even more variety to maps
Improving random events

Path 1.0.8 - Steam Deck Fixes + Feedback Survey!

There has been an input problem with certain Steam Deck users and it has been a challenge for us to fix as it seems it mostly affects the older Steam Deck model, and we on the dev team only have the newer model. However, we think we’ve finally solved the issues with input registering and camera moving. Let us know if you’re still having problems!
First though, make sure you’re on the default input configuration for Astral Throne.

Patch Notes 1.0.8

Fixed various input problems on the Steam Deck, especially the first gen model
Fixed rare instances of save file corruption when the game is exited forcefully (e.g. crash, power outage, etc)
Fixed RNG such that when you load a saved run, it’s more consistent (e.g. you can’t reroll shop inventory by save-scumming)
Fixed certain effects not finishing execution during enemy phase
Added “Hero in Team” Skills to Codex
Stopped Unaligned Units from using the “Arson” skill in the “Ordinator of the Archives” Encounter
Stopped Recruitable Militia spawning outside the walls in the “Defense of Doppio Vineyard” Encounter
“Ruin” tile move costs have been reduced from 3 to 2 (2 to 1 for teleporting Units)
Small game text and UI tweaks

This game is excellent! At time of writing I have just unlocked the first secret difficulty tier, and the run to get there was challenging, but not overly so. I am expecting to be truly tested over the next couple of weeks, and to use the games massive variety of tactical options to work through that test. If you are a fan of strategy games, stick through the beginning and you will be rewarded with an incredible experience.

The story also has some great highlights. The writing can be clunky in a few places, but the game makes up for it in heart. That might sound like a backhanded complement, but I'm being genuine! There aren't a lot of games out there that are as good at portraying the feeling of hope through adversity that this one can in its best moments. The hero characters are likable and interesting and I always look forward to seeing how different pairings react to the same situations. The game can feel a little bit like a time loop at times, and that only adds to its charm for me.

I highly recommend this game for anyone who is considering buying it! Zero Sun Games knocked it out of the park with this one.

Patch 1.0.7 - Minor Fixes

For our one-week anniversary, we have... another small patch!
These are probably going to be reducing in frequency now that the game has stabilized substantially.

Patch Notes 1.0.7

Fixed instances of dialogue scenes not starting properly sometimes
Fixed crashing issue when pressing “Next Unit” immediately as the player phase starts
Fixed controller binds not saving sometimes
Fixed instances of low FPS on deployment phase
Fixed issues with the “Here Comes the Cavalry” achievement
Fixed rare instance of items having negative stacks after events where you donate items
Gaining money from an item in the middle of an event allows you to select options you couldn’t previously afford
You can no longer choose to send your Unit’s equipped weapon to the Caravan when getting an item with a full inventory
Game text and UI tweaks

We are still trying to investigate why the game is having trouble on some people's Steam Decks. Truth be told, some of us on the dev team have Steam Decks and the game works fine on those, so it's been a tricky one to solve. Please let us know as many details as you can if you're trying to play the game on a Steam Deck and the game locks up.

Question About Memories

When you start a custom run, you can choose to start with 1 memory of your choice, form the ones that you have unlocked in the codex. Is there a way to unlock the ability to start with more than one of these in custom games? Or is one the max you can ever start with?...

not a good game, a TERRIBLE first expression

of course first of all checkin all the menus and stuff before actualy playing, i went with default settings wich is easy difficulty...and wow, i think game design and balance has to be looked at more directly and maybe even learned from other games to make this one better 12 turn "time limit" or like "time to take damage from....lore?" wich apparently is every battle, ok......but then we combine it with CONSTAND enemy reinforcement EVERY TURN...and i question if the designers have played simmilar games li...

What in the heck is up with early difficulty?

Like wowzers, both attempts I made at Map 1 felt like what happens on Maniac difficulty of most FE games. Enforced 12 turn timer, constant T1 reinforcements, enemies able to do 20-30% of HP if they hit (with 70-90% hit-chance), no early levels designed to give you weapon triangle advantage, no Jeigan to absorb hits? I also made an error when moving items around before my second fight, leaving one character without a weapon, and thought I could access Convoy from my main character but I can't, and Trade ...

Burning library Hard quest is unwinnable

I've tried this mission some 20 times now and it's simply unwinnable You have 8 units The enemy starts with 10 burners who set fire to a bookcase every turn.... Which means you lose 2 bookcases per turn from the onset There's some 30 other enemies who try to kill you who also need to be defeated Which means every enemy you try to kill is another bookcase you lose AND THEN THE ENEMY SPAWNS IN ANOTHER 5 BURNERS which means that after the 5th turn you lose 7 bookcases per turn plus the amount for enemies y...
