2. Delete everything here, even your xcomengine.ini :
Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config
3. Delete everything here (if there's anything left) :
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500
4. Verify the integrity of your game files :
From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties, then select Local files tab and click on the 'Verify integrity of game files' button.
5. Clear your Steam download cache by clicking on :
Steam (top-left of your Steam window) > Settings > Downloads > Clear download cache > Ok
6. Restart your computer and then open Steam. Subscribe to your collection by clicking "Subscribe all".
7. Delete your AML folder and reinstall the app. Open it and adjust the settings such as the path to your Xcom 2 mod folder. You may or may not need to restart the app in order for it to detect your mods. When it displays all your mods, start the game.
8. Close the game.
9. Open it again. When on the game main menu, go in Options and Mod Options and adjust the settings of each mods to your liking. You must do it NOW. After this, save your options and get back to the game main menu. Close the game.
10. Open it again and start a new game.
If your game still crashes after all these steps, it is very likely that you have a mod that is NOT compatible with WOTC or that is simply broken/deprecated.
Yes and no. The most likely reason for your crashes is due to the game using old .ini files that were not updated after mod manipulation (like adding or removing a mod). The game searches for entries that do not exist anymore and it doesn't recognise.
EDIT : Just to be clear, I'm not a Xcom modder (although I mod other games), but I did experienced what you are going through (and occasionally other type of issues). It took me a LONG time before figuring out how to solve this. That's why I wrote this troubleshooting tutorial compiling all I found and what ultimately fixed my CTD problem (from the starting mission). I wrote this troubleshooting more for me than anyone else, to be honest.
