Game does not start

The game endlessly cycles between "Launching" and "Cloud Sync", even though I have disabled cloud sync and tried in offline mode.
Any idea how to get this running? The "If you have technical issues with the game!" post is of no help at all

Edit: Another game using the Visionair engine, "Memoria", is working fine. However, "Chains of Satinav" has the same issue as this game.

Nevermind.
Install game -> launch game? does not work
Install game -> close steam -> open steam -> launch game? that works fine
just disable cloud saves to get achievements
