can't control on steam / linux?

Everything in the game works inasmuch as I can move and see objects, but I cannot seem to interact with them. I try to find help within the game and it says tap this and do that but I only want to play on laptop.

Is that even possible? perplexity.ai says it is

EDIT: You have to hold the LMB down and it will bring up a wheel with three choices, look, grab, or talk/eat.

I just got the game and it only gives me instructions for a tablet, like tap and using fingers to zoom in and out. I doubled checked and it says minimum system is Windows Vista 7 and I'm running 10. Nothing in options. And since it's part of a bundle I can't refund without losing other games.
