After playing the second game I can see why it has mixed reviews. If you are expecting the same experience as the first game then I'll tell you right now, it is not the same.
That said I still enjoyed the second game. It ends the story of the Great War in a realistic way - meaning I cried like a baby. For the conclusion alone I do recommend you play this game but where the first game really uses the puzzles to connect you to the story so you can experience the war though the characters, this game seems to just throw some 'puzzles' at you for the sake of having you interact while the war comes to an end.

This game was super disappointing, which is sad because I was really excited to play this game when I found it

+ Freddy and Anna were absolutely adorable together, and I loved their story arc (until the ending of the game)
+ Being able to pet Walt whenever he got you an item
+ Emile cameo absolutely made me tear up

- Very short/too fast paced, only took me 2.6 hours to beat the game (even with collecting almost every collectible)
- Everyone that wasn't Anna, Freddy, and Walt had no emotional impact and just felt like they were there for the "War is bad" narrative (this one could be subjective / just a me thing, but think it's worth mentioning)
- The ending is absolutely miserable, like the ending to the first game, however it also felt unnecessarily cruel and it just pissed me off compared to Emile's death/ending to the first game

I'm not going to say "Don't buy this game" if you want to experience more of Freddy, Anna, and Walt... but I will say, if you get it, get it on a discount of $5+ off
