Crashing on startup from Big Picture Mode, on Mac OS X, if the Steam overlay is enabled

Hello, I'm seeing a crash on startup, if I start the game from Big Picture Mode, on Mac OS X, keeping the Steam overlay ienabled. From the desktop it works fine, even with the overlay enabled. I replicated the issue on a MacBook Air, and on a MacBook Pro Retina, both on Mac OS X 10.11, all updates applied (on the Retina I'm running Steam beta to use the Steam controller).

The workaround is removing the Steam overlay for this game (I would prefer to keep it if possible :-).

Without the Steam overlay the Steam controller doesn't work :-(...

Update: pressing ALT just right after the game start, and the selecting the option to always keep that boot option menu open, there are no more crashes, even when the Stem overlay is enabled.

No matter the settings of the video in the boot option menu... Seem just a nasty interaction between the Steam overlay and game startups.

Same here. Some cliches in startup with osX , did not have this problem on mavericks, but now with el captain i have.

Any updates on this? It's been more than a month since this was reported and I'm still unable to play this game with the Steam Controller.

if you exit big picture and play the game in normal mode it work but still bug sometimes and you need to manually set your controller in the game in option/controller. Waiting for an update this is the only solution i found.

I've been struggling to get my steam controller to work with Broforce for the past day and a half. Someone please help!
I've tried the following with my MacBook Pro Retina running OS X 10.11.1:

A) Steam BPM w/ Overlay —> Retropotenza’s crash on startup

B) Steam BPM w/ Overlay + Retropotenza’s boot menu fix --> steam controller configs not working (community or default)

C) Steam BPM w/o Overlay —> Can’t join game*

D) Stream Desktop w/ Overlay —> Steam controller won’t work at all; no input registering in options > controllers

E) Steam Desktop w/o Overlay —> Can’t join game*

Is there anything else I should try?

*On the “join game” screen no matter what config or button I try it will not register any input besides the start button.

Crashes for me consistently when the developer logo appears and needs to be force-quitted. It works fine on the second or third attempt.

Will this ever be fixed?

Game crashes for me when run from Big Picture mode, even when opening the launcher window with alt and clicking Play from there.

Game starts up fine with Steam overlay enabled when not in BPM, but Steam controller is not detected. At least I can't setup the controller in game and no input is registered.

Tested with Steam and Steam beta.
OSX 10.11.5
