Just finished the non-DLC part of This War of Mine. Back to 2022,when I first played it, I was just starting college. At that time, I felt disdain for the idea of encroaching on others' living space for myself. So when I found out that I had to go out at night to scavenge for supplies to stay alive, I couldn't continue with the game. But today, as a birthday present to myself, I bought the all-DLC version of the game and reopened it. I still can't bring myself to harm innocent people to survive. I try to kill the rebels who do evil, shot the bandits who seize ordinary people's home, and punish those who prioritize attacking the character who I control (I think this is self-defense). After completing the game in my own way, I feel incredibly fulfilled: I always respond to my neighbors' calls for help, even though I have considered whether they might be deceptive; I have left behind supplies i just found for an elderly couple who depend on each other, even though they would have helped me a lot; I have given all medical supplies to the doctor in the hospital short on medicine, without expecting anything in return; I also did't disturb the father and the son at the car repair shop, even though the game indicated there were more things to scavenge. So I think: In the Post-apocalypse, It's actually possible for everyone to survive by helping each other, even if it's just a game. I wonder in the real world, with its abundance, if i would pass the test of humanity time and time again. I hope I don't do anything against my principles just foe the sake of living or surviving to be precise.
This War of Mine is truly a work of art.
