is there any resources or servers for brand new players to learn?

Haven't played quake since arena back in the days. Is the playerbase healthy enough to find matches on?

Have had this obnoxious input lag for years when playing QL, is it solvable or is it a result of using Proton?

Do you know any other small duell maps like aerowalk, toxicity and hektik? ATM i love playing them for a short and fast match. I think the trick is that they have enough tactical depth and are still very small and fast. Simple maps like hearth and thunderstuck do not work for me. Also maps like phrantic don't give me enough tactical depth....

Fair warning, alot of people are not gonna like what I have to say, but what I will say is undeniably true.
