This game has a water mechanism that is a real life continuous maintenance cost. You lose water while you're offline and not playing. And if you run out of water, all your characters die, and you lose ALL progress and character development. ALL OF IT. The game deletes all your progress unless you keep playing constantly. Not kidding.

As if that wasn't bad enough, they added water thieves which attack your base to steal the water even faster.

Once again, this is all in realtime and offline. Stop playing for a week, and you might not have any characters left. The devs have made changes to the water mechanism, but they are still sticking to the very real possibility of deleting all of a players progress.

The game was cool, the graphics and environments were insanely detailed. But the water mechanism made it a hard pass. When I bought the game I just assumed it cost water to start a mission. Run low and you'd have to spam some easy lowlevel missions to stock up on water. The arrogance of the devs is just bizarre. They don't seem to want to budge on this water thing. I've played tons of hardcore games back in the day with even worse penalties then what these devs want, but that was a long long time ago. Who has any time for this idiotic nonsense now.

Remove real time water system?

Have the devs actually addressed this yet? This and the performance are the two main things holding me back from purchasing the game, the game looks awesome but those two are a major turn of at the moment.

I'll absolutely change this review later.

At the moment, I can't recommend this which is a damn shame.
I want to so badly, I love the setting, the aesthetic and the gameplay when it works is absolutely fantastic.

The problem is that this game doesn't work, you get constantly stuck on the environment, theres no map, enemy AI is janky and unpredictable and the absolute worst sin is the water mechanic. If you dont play for a while the game will reset your progress which feels cheap. I don't mind the brutal difficulty of this game but if you're going to make it this hard you have to make it fair.

I want to love this game but it ain't there yet. Wait until next update, I hope it gets better.

Punishing people for taking a break from the game is just no fun game mechanic.
While playing it regularly was quite fun returning to the game to having lost all weapons and upgrade you purchased (for in game money == life time) is just too harsh for my liking.
Fun stops when you dont play because you like the game but because you are afraid to loose progress.
