But you may be onto something, since Kamui #0 manifests wings of light. Maybe they found a way of extracting trace ammounts of power from the sealed core, and they put it there because it's "sealed so it can't go haywire like last time (famous last words)".
At the end of the day, the stories of each game have been written separately and later on they tried to "remove contradictions (actual quote)", that's why there's no overarching plot. I'd love to see a modern remaster of all games with more refined lore, but only RefleX took 5 years to be made, that's wishful thinking haha.
Ophiuchus is actually boss 4! I played Kamui again semi recently, and that boss is referred to as Kamui 0. "Kamui Advanced Test Unit KAMUI #0"... I'd totally forgotten that and it was like a huge plot twist WTF moment when I saw it because I love the story of these games.
