Yet isn't the answer. "They're not planned currently" is just a workaround to saying a clear no.
Nor am I a fan of torn banner studios. I guarantee you they'll let cheaters run rampant just like they did in all their games with no consequence what so ever.
They're basically just trying to make a dollar on Lever Game's OG legacy. They won't have child zombies due to ratings and are too spineless to stand by the controversy unlike the OG Devs.
Honest to god, considering this IS a early access launch, I can practically guarantee that they will make zombie children in an future update (as we get more content and stuff). Suicide is VERY OBVIOUSLY returning, like cmon bro. Guys this is EARLY ACCESS, if it isn't in the game now, it WILL BE in the future. On another note, the OG devs are still working on the game, they've just merged with Torn Banner Studios (on what seems to be mutual ground). They actually talk about this in the QnA at 55:43. The Devs themselves also said there will be more QnA streams similar to this one in the coming months. Here is the link to their discord --> http://discord.gg/nmrih
Of course blahblahblah, this is all talk, we won't know for sure until the early access launch this Halloween. But I got no reason to doubt anything they've said so far, and everything seems to be legitimate.
Another thing is the zombies and old mechanics promised from the old beta trailers. Zombies however look very ghoulish and heavily generic and that’s very boring in my opinion. I’m also nervous about missing mechanics like checking vitals, obviously objective formats, and more. Now I’m just probably gonna wait and see how the game goes on EA, sad to say :v
Do you have what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse?
Edit:
This was uncalled for though, tornbanner have been a good chap regarding this current thing stuff imo.
That's the thing, "all the major core mechanics" not including zombie children is a red flag, a massive red flag.
Just because it's not a core mechanic of how to hit buttons as a player doesn't mean it isn't a core mechanic as an atmospheric/storytelling feature and as significant gameplay differentiation without huge amounts of additional effort.
Almost every time a dev says something isn't planned it's because it's never going to be planned, especially with Torn Banner Studios behind it. With Torn Banner Studios at the helm, things that are planned aren't actually planned either. In Chiv 2, for example, they promised cross-progression to enable people to bring their progression across to/from Steam and Epic and then cancelled that years later after gaslighting the community that it was coming for ages.
Yeah but I totally understand the decision to not include zombie children in the early access launch. When you first fight zombie children in nmrih, its a surprise. You panic, you attempt to hit their tiny ahh hit box, but you usually succeed. Fighting Children in nmrih 1 is mostly manageable (with exceptions, like broadway 2). The problem comes with fighting children mixed in with runners mixed in with normal zombies, then its a brawl isn't it. But that's just for nmrih1.
In nmrih2, we're gonna be fighting normal zombies, runners, shamblers (the rotten zombie), and other varied zombie types. Imagine your first time playing nmrih2 is being overwhelmed not just by the new zombies but by the children scraping your kneecaps off. As an early access launch, it would be alot of work to add in another mechanic like zombie children now, then to see what works and add them later.
But hey we'll see. I would VERY much like zombie children to be added in a future update, but if they don't add them I wouldn't be too upset. I imagine we would get a different "hard to hit fast moving enemy" if we don't get zombie Children.
