Controllers won't work
Ok, so I've tried a multitude of different controllers on this. I've tried a PS2 Sony DualShock2 controller(Through a Trenro Dual Playstation USB controller adapter), a Gamecube controller(Trough an adapter), a pdp PS3 Versus Fighting pad(Simply just has a different button layout), but none of these work. I sorta expected that of them EXCEPT for the PS2 controller.

Can someone please help me get ANY of these to work on this game? It seriously is a pain in the ass to try and play it with anything but an analog stick.

  • Open Steam Big Picture, navigate to the settings, and configure your controller.
  • In a file browser, navigate to <Steam directory>/config/config.vdf (The file can be opened with notepad).
  • Search for "SDL_GamepadBind" (without quotes)
  • You should find a string that looks like
    6d0416c2000000000000504944564944,Generic DirectInput Controller,a:b1,b:b2,back:b8,dpdown:h0.4,dpleft:h0.8,dpright:h0.2,dpup:h0.1,leftshoulder:b4,leftstick:b10,lefttrigger:b6,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,rightshoulder:b5,rightstick:b11,righttrigger:b7,rightx:a2,righty:a3,start:b9,x:b0,y:b3,platform:Windows,
    Copy that.
  • Navigate to <Steam directory>/SteamApps/Common/Titan Souls/data and open gamecontrollerdb.txt.
  • Paste that string at the end of the text file, save, and run the game.
Thanks, that helped out a bit, it only partially worked. I can't exactly get my D-pad or Analog stick configuration to work for either the Fightpad for PS3 or my PS2 dualshock.

You could try copying the string into the end of your OS's section (Windows, OSX, Linux), and see if that has any effect.

The other thing you could try is this tool[www.generalarcade.com] (found by tomotaco), and see if it gives you a different string.

Feel free to add me, and we'll see if we can troubleshoot this better.

If all else fails, you could try using a 360 controller if you have one. It seems like pretty much every game is compatible with that. D-pad is kind of sucky, but you get used to it.

I got this game and Spelunky to work on a controller like this (my controller is from a dollar store).

Enter Big Picture > settings > controller settings > detected controllers> define layout> save. Then go to the Library menu (obviously still in Big Picture) > pick the game>manage game> controller options>forced on. And then open the game while still in Big Picture.

Funny enough I could only get these games to play like this, no emulator would work, however I can't get Rocket League to work like this but I can get it to work with most emulators. Weird. Hope it helps.
Anyone have any luck with Xbox One controllers? Can't do anything with mine except roll.
