Alkahest

Alkahest

The only feasible path to success
As many others have pointed out, the concept of the game looks amazing, but there is no reason to believe any of it will come to fruition. A new developer creating one of the coolest, triple AAA looking and feeling games? Yeah right.

I do think there is one source of inspiration this developer can use, which is to look at Bright Memory. This ambitious sci-fi shooter with sword combat was mainly developed by a single developer. And he made a game that looks amazing, feels good and was pretty enjoyable.

Two key factors are the reusing of Unreal assets and the short campaign length. It first released as Bright Memory: Episode One, a fifty minute game chapter that proved the developer's ability to actually produce something. After that, the developer used the publicity and acquired funds to expand and improve it into a 120+ minute game called Bright Memory: Infinite. And now the developer has even more available funds to work on something even more advanced and perhaps expansive.

When the developer of Alkahest talks about quality over quantity, I hope they mean it and really focus on something they can manage. Then sell it for 10-20 bucks and grow.

This reminds me of Hellraid. I really, really want a game like this. However without real footage and it being a new studio, gotta keep expectations realistic.
might and magic: dark messiah though
