It's a flooded world, flooded from near constant rain. That's basically the whole story of the game. Just survive till you can craft warmer clothing.

I've been playing this game for quite a while now and it never rained as much as it does now.

Then that's just bad luck now or good luck for you in the past because there's been no updates to have changed anything.

Uh, unless you never got every far before. I think the rain, along with other difficulties does get turned up the farther you get into the game. But again that's the base game design. You are leaving because the intensifying rains will flood where you were.

I've completed the game at least three times now and made a dozen or more runthroughs where I didn't make it, so I guess I've just been lucky or am unlucky now because I reiterate, it's never rained this much in ANY of my past runthroughs.

The rain it raineth on the Just, and also on the Unjust Fella. But mostly it raineth on the Just, 'cause the Unjust steals the Just's umbrella

Why is it always night. No campfires anywhere. Map says 'always has a campfire'; can't find it.

Rain is always good, because when it rains, you always get clean water. Its easy to fill my 10 jugs of clean water when it rains. I'm at day 109, it rains 5 days straight and darkness, all areas is litter with enemies, no resources (maybe 1 stick of cattail) I got no weapons left, but I kite the wolves to the bear, and the boar to bear as well, like a WWW monster bash. While they run around and fight, I scavenge the bear cave, and pick the dead carcass up. My raft is fully upgrade and deck out in white wolf and elder wolf clothing.
