I can't even slow it down by moving the stick the opposite direction. Tried a few community controller layouts and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one of cause.
So I was using the Linux Native version of this game, unbeknownst to me in-realtime. Because apparently Psychonauts has no genuine button prompts or even modern button layouts, I spent the first 30min of the game testing each button to figure out what they did.
What I learned is that R2/LeftTrig if it is even attached to an input(pretty sure it's not) will cause the camera angle issue. So I tried avoiding accidentally hitting that button, but I did again in my first two hours & now the camera angle is stuck permanently.
I'm going to chalk this up to the Linux Native version being fairly unplayable because of the camera angle problem, this could also occur on the Windows version, but i'm not going to take one for the team just to test a theory and risk my game being totally unplayable.
If you're on SteamOS/Steam Deck, enable "Force Compatibility Layer" and use "Proton Experimental", this will start translating API calls for the Windows version of the game & you will lose any previous saves on the Linux build & for some reason Valve did not Sync any of my saves prior to me opening & closing the game 16+ times.
Before launching the game go to Steam Input & set your right trigger to essentially do nothing when soft/hard pressed, I am not certain that this issue even exists on the Windows build.. I'm just not taking any chances & I recommend you don't either.
TL;DR / / It's using the Linux Native version which is buggy imo, Force Compatibility Layer with Proton Experimental & in Steam Input disable the R2/RightTrigger input as a safe guard.
This is a bug in the code of this 17yr old game, which dosen't even have modern button prompts & thus the problem is not OP.
Also you note that he's on Steam Deck, what other USB device could possibly be causing an issue when he's literally on a Mobile platform. Your comment was not even remotely helpful in the slightest.
Let me know if any of this helps. Starting to see why Valve didn't want to waste time/resources on Linux native builds for SD verification.

Thanks just got my steam deck yesterday and ran into this issue.
Bit annoying remapping input emulation if you are not prepared for it, have a couple days off coming however and really want to 100% this game again.
The linux version does not support controllers, try the windows version (change to proton)
If you are still having this issue, I figured out the camera is tied to joyZ in the game and so the triggers need to be turned off all together, set both inputs to none and the camera issue will stop. Then set the right stick to joystick mouse and set other buttons how you like. Hope it helps.
