They literally have an item (Oakensoul ring) that turns off your backbar so you don't even need to engage with weapon swapping. Even after its super heavy nerf its rly popular to see.
ESO's core combat is too frenetic, weightless and nonsensical. I straight think that's why they're looking elsewhere. ESO's combat makes 14's combat look like a master class.
I think in the realm of MMOs, it's a little better to be late. MMOs aren't like consoles.
If the new ES and GW MMO comes out, seeing what they do, copying that thing and/or doing it better is much easier than innovating the MMO scene AND with brand recognition, that makes it simpler overall.
Since FFXIV still makes money, it's still going to be milked before any possibility of a replacement. FFXIV is still profitable, after all. The question is, how long will it remain profitable?
