Squad
System allocation
Is there a way to allocate more resources to squad? I have a 9900k(oc), 32gb of ram and a 3080ti and im strugging to maintain 60fps and its starting to get old fast.

You should be getting more frames with that setup. Could you tell me what resolution you are playing at?

It looks like you have a game or computer issue. My slow build (Ryzen 5600x, 2070Super, 16 GB RAM) gets better performance than that.

Is this just a Squad problem or is every game? and are you using dx11 or 12

ive used both dx11,12 it makes little difference which one. some maps are better than others, some sandbox maps run well while others dont and same with maps with alot of foliage.

but the variability is 20-30 frames north of 60
With the build you are running, you should be seeing above 100FPS. I am unfamiliar with the I9900k but should be getting better performance.

Have you done the basics yet for Squad? Try -
  • Updating drivers
  • Validating game files
  • Clearing Cache, This can be done in-game or by manually clearing cache: Press Windows Key ⊞ + R, Type %localappdata%, delete the SquadGame folder.
When you get a chance also tell me what your task manager looks like when you are in a Squad game (GPU/CPU utilization)

But from some digging, it might be caused by your PC.

Let me know how it goes, could be caused by a lot of things.

not sure if yours has the same thing, but the AMD radeon app had a thing for energy saving, i didn't realise i had it on for ages and everything was capped at 60, but can be individual to the game for amd, just food for thought.

Ive messed with XMP profiles, the cache, validating, and drivers are up to date. My utilization in Squad is ~47% for the cpu and the gpu doesn't go above 60%. there isnt much change that ive noticed. im starting to think my gpu is a lemon

Since your GPU is not being used could you try putting your Resolution Scale up a bit in Squad's graphics settings and see if that uses more of your GPU, while it's up see if your performance worsens or gets better. Test in a live game.

You're not the only one. I took a break for a while and returned for the 8.2 update. Literally the same rig as previous (8 or so months ago) similar rig to yours and was getting over 90fps on avg. Now as soon as the action starts I get severe dips into the 20's-40's. They've broken something and don't want to admit it.

EDIT: FYI I have 0 performance issues in any other game. Don't start thinking it is your PC and do not let Phileo try and gaslight you. Something is broken on their end.

Ive done some testing with MSI afterburner and i get better preformance when oc my gpu, about 40ish frames on average (120fps with no action, 70-80 in combat). the utilization goes up to 100% with AA on max

As I said in my previous post this could be a lot of issues. It could be a game or client issue that's why I had him look into both, but most of the time it's a user issue so I try to help them solve it and find out what is causing it. With his build, he should be getting well above what he is seeing. My current build is way slower than his and I get better performance. From some simple googling, you can find solutions. My job is to help. Not gaslight
